EDGAR Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis And Retrieval System

EDGAR Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis And Retrieval System
Definition: The system through which companies electronically file reports and registration statements with the SEC. This requires converting the paper or word-processing document to be filed into a universal ASCII format, a process known as EDGAR-izing the document. The filings can then be accessed by the public through the SEC's Web site on the Internet.
