macflyer's review: Callout Comment I was shopping around lately for my first own credit cards after being an authorized user on my spouse´s BofA Mastercard for the past 2 years since as an immigrant I had to establish some credit history of my own first.

Although being rejected in May 2007 for a Paypal regular credit line due to the fact that apparently GEMB couldn´t verify my identity I think it might have helped that I applied in-store for a Walmart Discover with my driver´s license last week (which I got immed. Approved for, $2300 CL).

The online instant-decision process worked like a charm and I got approved for $1800.

The good thing I already found out: within my Paypal account, right on the first page of my account, I will be able to see the balance and due date of payments for this card.

Everything else I´ll have to find out when the card arrives but I wanted to share my experience with everyone in doubt of the application/approval process like I was.

I have EXP with 748, low risk, and TU with 694 and fair to good estimation.

Whereas my Chase amazon.com Visa is still pending without any results and further inquiries up to the point that I already would love to withdraw my application with them, I have to say GEMB is quick and generous with their instant credit lines, since they easily can see that my "great" and perfect credit history is only due to me being just an authorized user on someone´s card.

But don´t worry GEMB, I know how to manage credit, well :-)

I will update this review as soon as I got it and start using it to see how it goes.

I only plan to use it for my everyday´s little expenses. Since the Walmart Discover isn´t good to use in many places around here, I longed for a Visa/Mastercard. I´ve been paying almost everything with my Visa debit card the past 3 years and now it´s time to earn cash backs!!!

But beware: you just earn towards ebay coupons. Since I do at times lots of ebay, not too bad for me. But as soon as companies like Chase & Co. Start liking me more, I would go for a general rewards or airline mileage program.

Nevertheless, since there is no anual fee and for my purpose there is nothing wrong with this card, despite no 0% initial APR and a not-so-good APR of almost 23%.

Update follows!

Remarks Well Macflyer you don't get credit for being a authorized user or a (piggybacker) on your wife's credit card anymore. Atleast not through B of A. GEMB are FICO lenders. Your FICO's are pretty good. Not perfect but pretty good. You have no credit prior to getting these 2 cards so you are a VERY low risk. I myself am dropping cards left and right but I am keeping my oldest card Household Bank from 2001. Good cards MacFlyer just keep up with them because if your late just once the APR will usually default.
