My credit scores are in the mid sixties and last week I received an invitation to apply for the discover more card. I applied and was declined but received an offer for the direct rewards platinum so I accepted it. 0.00% Intro APR on Balance Transfers for 10 months and No Annual Fee was the terms with a 300 cl is a keeper and will make small purchases and pif. I've read great reviews for this card and will write my experiences with it on the forums in the future.

I am curious how you received this card. When I went online to search for it, it said that the offer was no longer available. Is the card still offered through HSBC? Did you go to their website or discovers? Thanks!

Well after I applied for the invitation for the discover more card(which was declined)they counter-offered me with an approval for the direct rewards card. But the website I applied was at mydiscovercard.com which might or might not make a difference on receiving the counter-offer.

Congrats on your approval! This card is offered as a counter offer when you are only declined for the actual Discover Card.
This offer is only given when the application doesn't meet Discovers' lending criteria. It's nice to get this offer rather than a flat-out decline.
It is not solicited as a regular application card, only thru the Discover network.

You cant apply directly for this card. Its usually a counteroffer when you are declined for a reg discover card.
Thats how I got mine... Rcvd a preapp for the Discover More, applied, got declined and they counterofferd the HSBC Direct Rewards Card w/ $900 CL!

Congrats on getting this card. I have noticed that those who are declined for the regular Discover usually are given this option. I wonder if there is a time when this card will graduate to the regular discover card?

The APR is a little high but with no annual fee I will go with it. I will just take the basic credit steps and maybe down the line a clI will surprise me.

Combined Credit Cards on 2008-10-23
I have a Direct Rewards Platinum Discover Card, and recently applied for a Discover Card and was approved for another Direct Rewards Card, so I had them combined, total 600.00 credit line now, and they waived the 59.00 annual fee!
