chicago's review: Callout Comment I recently opened a cap. One no hassle MC. It came with a 39$ membership fee. No problem. After receving the card I called in to pay the fee. I gave the girl my account and routing numbers straight from my banks wb page. Apparently she took the account info wrong and my bank denied the charge for the wrong account number. I received a call and they stated the issue... No problem. I was told I "bounced" a payment, (not true.) I went over the cccount info they had for me, and it turns out THEY had the wrong information. Ok, so I correct the info and pay the balance. The next day my card has a hold on it for fraud detection. I send all the paperwork they ask for I. E. SSN card, DL, copy of my bank card, and capital one card, along with a copy of my car note statement. Not according to the reps, they accepted my SSN card, DL, bank card, and oh yeah my military ID, but would not accept my car note. Seriously!!! They asked for a copy of my bank statement. I informed them that was not going to happen unless they were giving me a lona for a mortgage. I thought that was exessive. They asked me to go to a cap one bank and have a rep. Verify my identity. I did that, and 1000 questions later theyrefuse to lift the hold on my card. They want me to con ference them in with my bank to make sure the 39$ payment went through. Now, this took place over a week after I made the payment corrections, and it sows on my cap one online profile and my bank statement. I refuse because I am looking at it cleared on cap one's statement and my bank. I told her she should be able to see the statement just like me. They refuse to lift the hold. I am canceling as soon as I pay them the 238$ this week that I charged. I'll never use them again. Please provide any and all comments if you think I am being unreasonable.

Remarks If you're that unhappy with them, then you should follow your gut and cancel the card, but your credit score has already taken a hit by lowering your average account age not to mention the inquiry you took to get approved for the card. I would advise that you just keep the card if you can get over the $39 annual fee. Capitalone is easy to do business with but you have to watch them. They like to charge an annual account maint fee which they will wave if you ask them. If you have a subprime card with them, they won't budge on the annual fee(this is different from the account maint annual fee) and they're stingy with the CLI.

Remarks You are not wrong at all. They do have bad customer service. Check out by review of Capital One from April 2007. Most people on here say how wonderful they are, but they are not. Rude customer service, scrippted replies to your questions, no credit limit increases. Good luck to you, move on...

Remarks Agree with other posters. I have had several Capital One cards and closed them all. Tired of the games after nine years.
