Remarks Yeah, Discover is pretty conservative. Good idea to slow down a bit. Too many inquiries and recent apps tend to scare off potential creditors.

Did they counter offer with an HSBC Discover?

Remarks Discover is a conservative lender, to say the least. You will have to let those inquiries fall off before applying with them again.

Remarks You should apply for AMEX first before Discover which would make things easier. Too many hard inquiries are not good but there are still some people get it. By the way, maybe you should say something about how long yours credit history is and how many different type of credit cards you have. Those make big differences.
