This is an good strategy for staying in business. Nice job hjm331! Once you run away from business, you practically admit that you are a failure. I am pretty sure that where you opened you business Killian, that area was functioning as a free-market enterprise. Don't ever give the next business a chance of feeling like a monoploy business becasue you only give them power. What you should have done was researched to see what could you have done to keep yourself competitive in the field of videos. Business individuals have to have a plan.

There is no such thing as only plan A or B because Plan z might hold the key to success. A contengincy plan must be inforce in order to keep a business running. It is going to get rough at times and you and your friend (as onwers) will encounter losses in your revenues, but that is ok, because that is the way the business industry goes. This might not be the same business at you, but if you use the same practices as us, I'm sure you will be successful. Remember, it's not an overnight thing, so it's going to take some time but you have to keep providing great customer service all the way.

When I change something in my credit report, they always send me out a new one and I see that cap 1 and a few others are making soft pulls on me. Some are out looking to see if you have defaulted on another creditor so they can jack you up for the default or universal rate. Cap 1 don't penalize you for the first 2 in twelve months, but they did not say that it will not go against you for a limit increase either. Keep up the good work! You are on the same trial I was on.

You can! I went from $300; 90 days later $500; 9 months later $2500. I should be ready for another in a few months or so. I seen your posts from the response to Diva, my advise is to not worry about cap 1, if you have been paying well with them, they will grant you a blessing very soon.

Take a look over those sites above and let me know what you think. As for your posting, its seems like you already selected the best card. I do not posses a business card, so I don't know much about them. That would be a great thread to discuss here. I really hope that someone come forward quick so that we both can learn from it.

Thanks so much buddie. I am so happy to hear from a response in this fourm. I will take what you said into consideration. I do not plan on going partnership, only sole proprietor. As for employees, I plan to work in the salon for about four years before I stand back and see what I can really make. I know there will be ups and downs within the business especially with stylists that wants to go out and make it on thier own. This is why I call myself a 'Business Woman' that wants to go out and feel what it is like to run it by myself and not depend on no one else.

I got involved in a resturant business in late 2004. Detailed Business Plan, Condo as collateral ($15000), Cash Investment showed amount $35000. Applied for $140,000 Loan through National City Bank, Michigan. Aproved in month with the help of Loan officer with 7.5% for 7 years. First 6 months intrest only.

Good Terms with Loan Officer and if you have had prior business loan with the same bank which you have paid does help.

I am no longer in that business, got burnt by partner.

Beauty salon is a good business. If you have the skills and not going to rely on employess you can make it.

Has anyone here began or already started up a new business? I plan to open my own beauty salon in Atlanta Georgia in a few years. Although I have learned alot since I have been in college, I would like to hear some advise from someone who is not lecturing from a book. I have been to the Small Business Administration office and researched good tips, but I know credit and a good business plan plays a good roll when trying to borrow money. One of the library asssistance there was explaining the BA7 loans to me but I kind of thought saving money for myself just in case something happens. I have a good exit strategy, but at the same time I am nervous. Can someone give me some good advice, I will be more than willing to listen.
