Thats funny Meya! Cant believed he called and actually told u that!

He didnt work for Pizza Hut, it was Little Caesars. Their basic Lg. Pepperoni is only $5 and theirs no waiting around for the pizza to b made. So thats why they needed him to stack up the pizzas! Specially during football season bcuz as soon as it hit half time... Here came the customers :)

I keep bugging him to look for a job. Ive offered to drive him around and waste my gas for him! My parents dont bother him because hes the "baby". Its only 2 of us, so now that im out, they want him to keep him by giving him all he wants :innocent: !!!

That is so wrong how they treated your brother. I know the feeling because I was out looking for pt time jobs when my business was slow and I ended up getting hired at Office deopt, well everyone was chatting and I had to do the restocking and cleaning the isle. I got so mad until I walked up there and told the manager while they were talking to kiss my blank and open this door and let me out of here. He was like "Are you quiting?" Of course duhhhhh! He did not want me to quit because I was his sucker but little did he know, I already had a job, the business was slow during rainy season.

When i got home, they called me the next day talking about "Ummmm excuse me sissy girl, but you are scheduled to be here at 9 am did you know that?" I told him for what? You guys are giving out free PC or something?" He was laughing thinking I was joking, I was like "Dude, you think I am coming back, then hold on for a minute, I will be there in about 5 seconds" Then I slammed the phone in his face.

I know the economy is bad, but no job is worth someone tempting your fate. Something else probably would have happen if he stayed, so from my opinion, he did the right thing. Pizza hut is not a job where you can make good money from and the growth is basically transferable to the same position in the same field of work. He can find another job somewhere else, but he have to start looking for them. Opportunity does not come looking for you, and in these days they are running from applicants.

Well... He was working part time for Little Caesars (Pizza Place)...
When they needed him full time, he was there, when someone called in "sick" he would go... They kept hiring MORE and MORE ppl and they would give him NO HOURS :dumbfounded: He would call every Wednesday to get his schedule just to find out he didnt have any hours...

Well a few people quit, and he was working again, but each time they gave him a hard time. Kept saying his raise would b on his next check... 4 months passed by and still nothing :upset: During Team Meetings, his Mgr would spk to him aside and say that some ppl were complaining he wasnt doing his job. His job was to b in the kitchen, make pizzas, no pizzas no business! But bc the Manager wasnt there, the Asst Mgr would tell him to clean while the girls chatted! He complained to the Mgr that the girls werent doing their job and he would end up doing it, but the Mgr being Female didnt believe him, and threatened him by taking hours away if he didnt do what the Asst Mgr said... So he was like, "Whats the point of working here if im not getting any hours" :upset: That was his last day.

I think they were just giving him excuses to quit rather than getting fired for NO REASON! His job was taken over by stupid lying ignorant young ladies ;) Most of the guys had quit b4 him. I think he was the last guy to leave.

RivasGlo, I hope you don't mind me asking but why did your brother quit his job? It's very difficult to find a job nowadays with the declining economy. Managers are laying off some of their employees because there's no need for many employees since there's not a lot of business going around. Consumers are cutting down on extra costs so this hurts restaurants, movie theatres, etc. the most.

Yes why did your brother quit his job

My brother turns 18, Aug 4! He quit his job a few months ago and has not been looking for work... If hes gonna go to school than thats fine but I dont think he is.. SO IM NOT GONNA LET HIM GET A CARD w/ NO JOB! I dont think hes even interested in building credit.

I also have to teach him whats up w/ this credit world. A few months ago I let him charge a Flat Screen on my CapOne card, explained why needs to build, about interest, FC, LF... and he paid me back in no time but only because he didnt like the idea of even carrying a bal and didnt want to get fin charges, he only carried it for like 2 months... SO from that experience I expect him to b the type who pays in full all the time ;)

I have to teach my sister about credit before she gets her first credit card. It's going to be a bit of a challenge since she thinks she knows it all but I won't allow her to make any mistakes.

Has anyone else here experienced credit with their children? If so, what was the outcome. I believe this thread would benefit adults who are rebuilding so they can pass the message on to our children. The way the economy is going today, our kids will suffer in the long run. Credit should be taught to children as well as life, manners, and homework. They are going to cross this road soon, so it is best to give them a head start. This is their foundation to independences.

We are doing just right, let's teach them how to NOT ask US for money. Once they find out what hole money comes from, trust me, they will slow down with all the begging.

He does bank with me in my second account (or should I say Bill Free Account), I make sure that I watch everything he do. We have to get into our kids business, that is the most important thing in life.

There is one thing that I did not mention (Lord forgive me), When I am out sneak shoping (during broke days), I go into his account.....But I do put it back........in a week or so...lmao. He is sort of nosey because he is not really understanding intrest, so he says "Let's go online and see how much MY money GREW!" Then I have to tell lies like, hold on for a minute, I got to finish up this project online, something is wrong with the computer right now (I shut the power off from the back), or let's go get something to eat. I know I am wrong but, I make sure it is back before he wants to take some out, and as long as he does'nt know...oh well.

Makes a lot of sense, Meya. I never really keep a record of how much I do give him a week, but I know he gets at least $5 for the week, and whatever else on the weekends. His only chore (which he tries to get me to do everytime) is doing the dishes. And he doesn't have to do it everyday. He alternates with my oldest son (who doesn't complain).

He gets survivors benefits because his dad passed away 3 years ago, but I've been saving it for him until he gets older; thinking when he's older he'll be wiser and responsible. Like "that's" supposed to be an automatic thing! I believe that's what got ME into a whole lot of trouble. I think it's time to have him give it a try on his own (while he's still under my care) to see just how well he'll fare in the "grown up" world. Hopefully, I'll be able to steer him away from some of those bad choices I made when I was first on my own. We'll see.

So, he'll get some of his benefits, because I'm not going to give him ALL of it. LOL But with that, he'll end up with more chores. If we do it this way, maybe he'll quit asking for Pizza every other night. Or if he wants pizza, he can buy it himself.

Wow, the more I think on it, the better it sounds. He'll know exactly what he can afford. And he'll quit bugging us for money. LOL Yep, I'm starting to like the idea.

Replied by Meya on topic Is there another way to

Is there another way to do this? My son doesn't get an allowance. He gets money only on a "needs" basis. Should I just put some money on a card and if he asks for something, give him the card? Oh wait, that makes little sense, cause I would still have to pay for the card. LOL Hmm, any suggestions?

Allowances, needed basis, regardless, we are still digging in our pockets.

I don't see any difference in you putting money on the card, and when he ask for something, giving him the card. You might end up spending more than what you normally give him. Cards excite kids just like it does us...lol. He will start aksing for it quite often, and then what are you going to do? hummmmm, tell him no? Ok, now you juiced him up for nothing.....No way, that is child abuse....lol.

From my opinion, sit him down and let him know that he is at an age to where he is going to have to work for what he wants because money does not fly ou tof trees. When his little friends come around and be flashing their things that their "Mom and Dad" purchased for them, the first thing he says is "You guys are lucky, I have to work for what I want." In the long run, who will focus on finances much better? the one who worked for it, or the one who was given?
 :worried:

Find jobs around the house that you are tired of doing. What ever he does, he must do it on a regualr basis or will not get paid for that pay period. My nephwe does not get a whole lot of money, I will never give up an amount of something that I can not keep myself. He keeps my yard clean, traffic areas wiped down, keeps the garage clean, and vacums the floor. This is what I hate doing, so it is his job. My sister has a job for him sometimes also, and he is not tired as of yet. He knows my husband gets paid every Friday, and he meets him at the door for his "ends."

He only gets $40 every week from me, and $10 per week from my sister, that is why I do not let him spend over $70 with Target becasue if something goes wrong, I will have to pay for the card. And if I have to pay for the card, there is going to be thunder in my house, he knows it.

Replied by Meya on topic Bank of America has something

Bank of America has something similar but you will have to put your money in the account and load the card for them, also it let's you track their spending. This is what I do for my 11 year old

1. Since I dont go to Target, he uses the Target card to purchase a game.
2. I took the paperless statement away so that he could get the bill.
3. When he recevies the bill, he usually pay all or half with a money order.
4. I make him purchase the stamp, fill out the money order, write my account# on it (I just signs it), fill out the envelope, and take it to the post office to mail it.

This makes him upset sometimes because he uses his allowance money, but it also teaches him a lesson about credit. He slowed down with all the "Hands out" towards me because he now see what responsibility is. I just dont let him puchase over $70 dollars becasue he will then be paying too much interest and his payments will take longer.
