You definitely should have a higher risk tolerance to invest in small cap stocks

This is true. All it takes is one good lawsuit to destroy a mom and pop operation. Small caps, in my opinion, are for people who like to take risks.

I agree, but note that small cap stocks are also typically a lot riskier and have a lot more downturn risk. It is a lot easier for a small cap company to go bankrupt than a company like Wal-Mart.

Small Cap Value stocks are a good way to go. These are stocks in companies that are not worth as much as a Large Cap type company....like Wal Mart. Small Caps are easy to buy into, they are road less traveled and, if picked with research, can pay off nicely.

Precious metals can definitely be volatile and can be a hard long-term investment. Some ETFs have been trendy in that space as well.

As for myself, I have been taking risks and got into precious metals and certain bank stocks. Making out all right but one has to watch because the precious metals can get pretty volatile.

Just curious to know if the hot tips for worthwhile investments are very much different these days.

A contact of mine took a major hit on oil a while back, but continues to do well with Walmart, making the latter a good long term investment so far.

I like Apple, Boeing, & ConocoPhillips right now. I think they are all solid names in good sectors. I am still looking for a couple of more good stocks, but right now these three are my 'A' team.

Thanks Frances, for interesting tips.I also invest in stocks and have found that as long as one is a long term investor and invests only in blue chip companies, one will just not lose money. It is a sure shot gain formula.

Replied by frances on topic Hello Meya. I am not

Hello Meya. I am not an expert, but have taken a few economics classes back in college. With the prime rates continuing to stay low, more people will start to invest, so we should continue to see a strong market.

I definitelly would pay off any high interest debt, such as credit cards before thinking about this.
