HSBC/Orchard Bank Credit Cards

How long they wait to turn over your account depends on the company. Some companies may do it as soon as 3 or 4 months. I beleive most wait 6-12 months before they sell the debt off to another company. Most likely, Orchard no longer owns your account, so don't have any say on the repayment options.

Hi KellBell, they didn't freeze my bank accounts only my cc account. Sorry if I wasn't clear in my earlier post. I got behind in payments because my husband has been unemployed for the past six months or so and we only had one income and some savings. I'm in the process now of making amends and Orchard is the only one that has turned over my account to collections.

There must be some sort of system where authorized collectors can see you have money in your bank account. Every time I had over $400 in my bank account, one of my past collectors would find out and put a freeze on my bank account. They would always get there money. It was so frustrating and traumatizing because I had rent to pay. AH, those were the days and never again will I go through that. I pay my bills on time, every time.

If you don't have the money, make sure your paycheck is not direct deposit. They will take those too.

Yes. I have had my bank accounts frozen on 3 separate occasions. One by Discover Financial services, Once by a lawyer collecting for Citibank, and once by a lawyer for a collection for Providian. It sucked and I had to fork over the dough. I also had a judgment placed on me even though the bill was paid.

My advice? Pay your bills. You will see that the $300.00 is much cheaper than court fees, wasted time, and a bad credit score. Work overtime or a second job if you have to.

Well, I just called Orchard Bank and found out that my account is in collections and the only way to get back in their good graces is to pay the collection agency and then Orchard will release the hold that they have placed on my account.

Has anyone here ever heard of such a thing?

:worried:

Replied by eric on topic They will combine the two

They will combine the two cards but they don't guarantee the CL will be combined. Basically they just close one account and give you a CLI on the other one if you are eligible.

thanks GaryDman...Im going to try that tommorow...I know you hate HSBC lol but they are my oldest tradeline. We will see what happens.

I'm going to try to move my Orchard Bank CL ($300) to my Best Buy Rewardzone Mastercard ($1,000). Do you think it's possible? Both are HSBC products and if they don't do it, I'm just going to close my Orchard card. It's my lowest limit card and I have no use for it.

HI,
Does anyone know if you can combine a HSBC MC with a Orchard Bank MC?

That would be a novel idea...I have a Householdbank MC and a Orchardbank MC, both with $500 CL's... If I could combine the Orchardbank into the Household and close out the Orchard I would, as long as the tradeline for Household stayed the same as open since 2001.

Replied by Attagirl on topic Again if you have many

Again if you have many accounts I would consider condensing. But really do not see the need if you are trying to improve credit rating with only a couple of cards. I think that you have to look at many factors and make a decision that fits your needs and not the needs of others.

Replied by KOG33 on topic Actually, I honestly think it

Actually, I honestly think it is a great idea that you can combine cards. I have two only need 1. Second card I just got offered happened to have better terms. So I combine 2 together get the better terms, canceled the fantastic terms I had with the first card, and combined both limits. Also, I don;t have that many cc's that is why I condensed.

Replied by Attagirl on topic My advice to anyone is

My advice to anyone is before you continue to get more cards take a look at your payment history and income and make sure that you are not causing any problems for yourself down the road. It used to be ok for you to have several cards but now it is not great for your credit report to have so many.

It is nice that you can combine them, but why would you want to.
