Easy Ways to Save More Money in 2019

With 2018 coming to an end, there’s no better time to review your finances with the goal of making changes for the better once the calendar turns.

Like many, you’re probably looking to save more money in 2019. Even if you’ve had some success over the past 12 months, you know there’s always room for improvement.

While there are hundreds of ways to save more money, these five are easy to implement:

1. Carpool

There are many reasons to carpool, including the fact that you can save a lot of money on gasoline and vehicle maintenance.

Ask around to see if any coworkers are interested in creating a carpool. Do the same with other parents who drive their children to and from school.

There are other people out there who understand the financial benefits of carpooling. You simply need to find them.

2. Save Big Payouts

Are you in line to receive a bonus at work? Are you expecting a tax refund?

If you have a big payout coming your way – regardless of the reason – consider saving all the money. This is one of the quickest ways to give your savings account a boost.

It’s not always exciting upfront to save a big payout, but you’ll look back at some point and realize you made the right decision.

3. Don’t Eat Out as Much

There’s nothing wrong with having a nice meal at a restaurant every now and again, but you don’t want it to become a way of life.

As you cut down on how often you eat out, don’t be surprised if you find yourself with more money in your pocket. Who knows, you may even fall in love with the idea of regularly cooking meals at home.

4. Shop Online

Even if you’re already doing this, you may be able to take things to the next level.

In today’s world, it’s possible to buy almost everything online. As long as you’re able to save money (and take advantage of the convenience), it’s something to strongly consider.

Tip: make a list of what’s cheapest online and what’s cheapest at local stores. This will ensure that you’re always putting yourself in position to save.

5. Make Your Home More Energy Efficient

Why pay more to heat and cool your home than you have to? By making it more energy efficient, you can save on heating and cooling costs throughout the year.

Some ideas to consider include: new entry doors and windows, modern appliances, new siding, and a programmable thermostat.

Do you have plans to save more money in 2019? What steps are you taking today to improve the likelihood of reaching your goals?
