Merit Platinum
Page status: Finance Globe product reference
Offer status: Merit Platinum is currently marketed by Horizon Card Services, but Finance Globe does not provide or maintain its application. It is a merchandise credit account that can only be used at the Horizon Outlet. It is not a Visa, Mastercard or debit card.
About the Merit Platinum Card
The Merit Platinum Card is a merchandise credit account offered through Horizon Card Services. Its credit line can only be used to purchase eligible products from the Horizon Outlet online store.
Despite being called a card, Merit Platinum is not a general-purpose credit card. It cannot be used at grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, Amazon, Walmart or other websites. It also cannot be used for cash advances, ATM withdrawals or person-to-person payments.
This distinction is important because the offer may appeal to consumers seeking credit without a traditional credit check. The account's restricted use, membership fees, shipping charges and current credit-reporting policy should all be reviewed before applying.

Where Can You Use the Merit Platinum Card?
The Merit Platinum credit line can only be used at thehorizonoutlet.com. The Horizon Outlet is an online members-only store offering clothing, household products, electronics, toys, personal-care items and other merchandise.
The account will not work at another retailer, even if that retailer accepts conventional credit cards. It cannot be added to a digital wallet and used as a Mastercard or Visa account.
Horizon Outlet also displays third-party advertisements and financial offers. The Merit Platinum credit line cannot necessarily be used for products or services advertised by those outside companies.
How Merit Platinum Works
After an account is opened, the customer receives access to a merchandise credit line for eligible purchases from the Horizon Outlet. Purchases are billed to the merchandise account, and the cardholder must make monthly payments until the balance is paid.
The current agreement lists a minimum monthly payment of $25, or the entire outstanding balance when the balance is less than $25. Customers may pay their merchandise balance in full at any time.
The merchandise credit line cannot be used to pay shipping charges, membership fees or account fees. Those amounts must be paid separately with a valid U.S. credit or debit card.
Merit Platinum Credit Limit
Finance Globe's earlier listing recorded a $500 merchandise credit line. That amount is retained as historical information and should not be interpreted as the credit line currently offered to every applicant.
Current credit-line amounts and account terms may differ. Applicants should review the exact line, fees and payment requirements disclosed during the current application process before opening an account.
Application and Approval
Horizon Card Services states that it does not require a conventional credit-bureau check or employment check for this account. However, that does not mean approval is guaranteed.
The provider may need to verify the applicant's identity and ability to pay. Its current terms also reserve the right to reject an application. The previous Finance Globe statement advertising "Guaranteed Approval" should therefore not be used as current application guidance.
Applicants must be at least 18 and have a valid, active U.S. credit or debit card. That separate card is used to pay account fees and shipping charges.
Fees, Interest and Payments
The current Horizon Card Services pricing summary lists no APR for the merchandise balance. However, no interest does not mean that the account is free.
An account activation fee and monthly membership fee may apply. The public pricing page does not provide one universal fee amount and directs account holders to their account for their applicable pricing.
Before applying, review the complete cost of:
- The account activation fee
- The monthly membership fee
- Shipping charges on Horizon Outlet orders
- The required monthly payment on merchandise purchases
- Any optional services or subscriptions
Shipping charges must be paid separately and are described as nonrefundable under the current agreement. Compare the merchandise price and shipping cost with the total price available from other retailers before placing an order.
Does Merit Platinum Report to the Credit Bureaus?
The current Horizon Card Services agreement states that the account does not report to any credit bureau at this time.
This is a significant change from Finance Globe's older listing, which stated that the product reported to a major credit bureau. That legacy statement should be removed because it no longer matches the provider's current published terms.
Consumers primarily seeking to establish or rebuild credit may receive little credit-building value from an account that does not report their payment activity. Reporting policies can change, so applicants should confirm the current policy directly in the agreement before opening an account.
Need a Card You Can Use More Broadly?
If you want a credit card for everyday purchases or an account that reports payment activity to the major credit bureaus, compare current general-purpose or secured credit cards instead. Review the annual fee, APR, security-deposit requirement, prequalification process and credit-reporting policy before applying.
Who Merit Platinum May Be Useful For
Merit Platinum may be useful for someone who specifically wants to purchase merchandise from the Horizon Outlet, understands the membership costs and is comfortable with the limited-use credit line.
It is unlikely to be a strong fit for someone who wants:
- A card accepted at everyday retailers
- A Visa or Mastercard
- Cash advances or ATM access
- A balance-transfer card
- Rewards on general purchases
- An account that currently reports payment history to the credit bureaus
Important Things to Consider
- The credit line is restricted to eligible Horizon Outlet purchases.
- Shipping charges and account fees require a separate credit or debit card.
- No stated APR does not eliminate membership, activation or shipping costs.
- The provider's current terms say the account does not report to a credit bureau.
- No traditional credit check does not mean every applicant will be approved.
- Canceling the membership ends access to new purchases and benefits but does not eliminate an unpaid merchandise balance.
- Product prices, availability, shipping charges and return terms should be reviewed before ordering.
Is Merit Platinum Legitimate?
Merit Platinum is an actual merchandise credit product operated by Reliant Holdings, Inc., doing business as Horizon Card Services. The provider publishes an account agreement, customer-service information and a login area for existing customers.
That does not mean the account will be a good financial fit for every applicant. The more useful question is whether its restricted shopping access and total fees provide enough value for the way you intend to use it.
Merit Platinum Reviews
Finance Globe does not currently have enough community reviews to provide a meaningful cardholder rating for Merit Platinum.
Useful reviews should distinguish between the merchandise credit line, promotional gift-card offers and access to the Horizon Outlet. Consumers may have different experiences depending on the offer they received and the terms in effect when their account was opened.

Finance Globe's Take
The most important feature of Merit Platinum is also its biggest limitation: the credit line can only be used at the Horizon Outlet. Consumers should not compare its advertised credit line directly with a Visa, Mastercard or other general-purpose credit card.
The lack of a stated APR may initially sound attractive, but membership fees, activation costs and shipping charges determine the account's real cost. Its current lack of credit-bureau reporting also limits its usefulness for consumers whose primary goal is building credit.
Merit Platinum may serve a narrow purpose for someone who specifically wants Horizon Outlet merchandise and accepts the account's fees and restrictions. Most consumers seeking everyday purchasing power or credit-building value should also compare current secured and general-purpose credit cards.
