Opt-Out from Unwanted Credit Card Solicitations

This page contains reference numbers, websites and addresses to have your information removed from credit card and similar solicitations.

1. By using your phone and the internet:

If you do not want to receive credit card solicitations, you can call this federally-mandated toll-free number to opt-out: (888) 567-8688. You can also opt-out online at www.optoutprescreen.com.

2. Additional steps that may be taken:

The three major credit bureaus may have different requirements on how to opt-out. You can write your own letter or use the Sample Opt-Out Letter from the FTC to request that your personal information not be shared with others or used for promotional purposes.

Visit the web site or phone each bureau for their most up-to-date information.

The FTC publishes free brochures on credit-related issues. For a complete list of publications, write for Best Sellers, Consumer Response Center, Federal Trade Commission, Washington, DC 20580; or call (202) FTC-HELP, TDD (202) 326-2502.
