The reality on this Blog is every day living. Setting aside as has been explained needs to be "Job 1" yet we have student loans the need for a house and of course the ever present need for transportation and the expenses for children. What I am referring to is the "American Dream" to have it all, "... mom, apple pie, and Chevrolet...". Unlike times from the Baby Boomers the market place has changed to Global, the better paying manufacturing jobs have been outsourced or replaced by automation and the demand for good paying middle management jobs has been replaced by leaner organizations and the need for less managers. Gen X, Gen Y and Millenniums have a different world and from where I sit ... life will change and the American Dream is becoming far more elusive. Now back to the Blogger's main point of funding retirement and the less exciting things but, in a persons future the very important. When we are young and living in the "No Fear" part of our lives death and taxes are way out there. With the idea that we can work until we are 70 is fallacy (as Congress is suggesting today). Many jobs that require physical attributes will find we are not equal to our fellow younger workers and we do slow down (speak with experience). Trying to stay up with modern technology is a challenge in and of its self so consider the point of this Blog as it will affect you in life. Everything the Blogger laid out affects us and following the path will help us through out our lives :)
