A young man with a plan ! Gotta love it ! 2011 will mark the 1/2 way point in my current auto loan. Hopefully at that time I will no longer be upside down in my loan and get rid of my car for a new one. Off on a tangent here young man; I like your what your doing, you have a goal but more importantly you have a plan to achieve your objective !

Since I froze all 3 of my credit reports, I'm not going to be applying for credit until June 2011. That's when I will be buying a new car without a co-sign and I want to have the highest scores possible so I can get the best deal at the time.

Congrats young man ! Your hard work and diligence are paying off. Instead of 5% how about no credit card debt ? No matter how you slice it 717 is 717 ! It is what it is, nice going !

Just pulled my EQ FICO score and it's 717! My score should be around 730 if I pay down my debt from 25% to about 5% and let my accounts age.

But this is definitely good news and something to be proud of.

Meya, the time that they have been open is probably the issue. They say you see a large jump after a period of 7 to 10 years and that most people with good to excellent credit is in large part due to the fact that they have paid on time on accounts with 8 to 10 year histories.

I agree!

With the way banks are closing accounts and reducing limits, you can't afford not to have multiple cards.

That is the number one thing that scared me, I had too many GE cards

Meya, do you have multiple cards from the same issuer? I was thinking that if you could combine some cards it might help. It seems like creditors seem to like people who don't have a ton of cards with small limits.

Wow this posting is pretty old...lolz! I have nothing on my report but the old Cross Country card, it is due to leave as of today...Hallelujah! I am able to pull my report, but knowing that exp is so slow, i will just wait till Sept 2nd to see if it is gone. After reading my old posting, it was TU that eliminated the baddie, exp is still holding on to it. I do (did) have plenty of GE accounts, how will you be able to combine all of their store dept cards together? As far as small limits, which is what I grew up on:fun:, the only small limit is Travelocity, I got rid of all the ones who did not want to move me from the hundreds club.

HJM, sprint has been gone for I don't know how long. They just still send me pif offers. My thing is that, if they can go down this low years later, we could have settled this a long time ago.:worried:

Meya, if the Sprint baddie is still on your report, I will arrange a PFD with them. If you decide to go with the PFD, make sure that you have proof of their side of the agreement.

Another exciting message! Experian has released my judgement. Now it is all about TU, they keep holding on to it like they is married. My scores went up 7 points only fromt he removal, but it beats nothing. I moved my scale on my profile from 597 to 604. I am basically stuck with 2 medicals, and one credit card that was from Cross County Bank. Is anyone familiar with them. I remember when my highest limit was about $700. When they was through with me, it was nearly $1300 or $1400, geesh. But, that was the old days, I am not going out like that anymore.

Now for the question! Why do my scores take so long to go up? I am down to paying off 3 cards with 50% utilization on all. The other 11 is paid off except for ICON because that is an installment plan. When I went on a credit benge, I used 70%, left it there for about 2 months and then paid them in full. My scores only went like 3 points after paying them in full. What is up with that? After I pay my last 3 cards off, I do not plan on using them agian. I am just happy to be back in the credit game again, but I am so used to using cash becuase I was away from the credit world for so long. I think that those new low limit cards are hurting me. I hate I got those cards, the limits were like 500 and below, except for Hooters, they showed me some love.

Answers anyone?

I never meant to dodge my creditors, they just made it impossible to pay.

After all these years, I always said, Forget them, but deep down inside, I had a guilt bothering me about not paying. Now that you said this, I am going to carry that feeling about my past for the rest of my life. I love what you just said. I had to crack up laughing the other day because the collection agency for Sprint sent me a letter asking to settle for $50 on a bill that was once over $680. Had this agreement been offered back in the 90's, I would have never messed up my credit:laugh:

When I first started, I had a fico near 400. In 2 years it is now at 630. Time is your best friend. Most of my entries were accurate but I had no means to pay anyone. I am now in a position to pay. I never meant to dodge my creditors, they just made it impossible to pay.

Perhaps, if nothing else, we will make it possible to pay off what we owe.

Me either, but obviously creditors disagree with us. To be safe, I probably will not be applying for any new credit for at least two years, which will allow me enough time to payoff all of my outstanding credit card/line of credit balances and my student loans down a bit.

Smart idea! This is what I am doing now. As of June 2010, the ball is rolling and I can not afford student loans and cc balances. We all know that the gov will not forgive us for any unpaid balances:laugh:
