Credit Card Reviews - Updates!

Just wanted to update everyone about rating the reviews. When we read members reviews in the Credit Card Reviews section, let's not forget to rate these members for their postings. I rate them everyday because they are helpful and I appreciate anyone taking the time out to rate a card. Let's give them credit where credit is due.

These members has helped many of us select which card that we believe will be of valuable to us through reputation of real life experience, which cards may be a disaster, or will discourage our overall experience with the card (like Tribute for example). Nothing is better than real life experience from others. Furthermore, your rating is confidential, and you have a choice of giving them the amount stars that you think their posting is worth. All is asked is that you carefully select the best rating because you can only rate ONCE, and to not be biased. That same respect will be given unto you!

One more thing, I find it easier to rate the review before I post a comment. If I don't decide to post a comment, I still rate the review, that way it will help me not to forget. If I don't take this route, I find myself going back to posts to make sure that I gave an honest rating because I tend to forget to go back and rate. That that does take up time, and may cause a person to just keep on going to the next post without rating the previous.

Thanks everyone!

I think that I need to add a "blush" smiley, but I guess that this will have to do:

You are too kind! Really, I couldn't operate a website without making improvements when needed. How would I sleep through the night? :cheesing:

Replied by Meya on topic You are the first site

You are the first site owner that I have ever seen that responds to issues prompt and happy. Let's not forget understanding, caring, sharing, etc. This is what I love about The Finance Globe/Network. Where else would you find somene like you! If apartment owners were like you, they would have good history with tenants and spend less time in court.

Im having fun with the reviews! I just wanted to check in to see if everyone else was taking advantage of it. I just wanted to throw a little bug in to everyone who used the the roller ball on their mouse. Once you select your rating please don't use the roller ball to scroll down to the submit your review button because it will accidentaly give the poster a bad review (rating will decrease). I caught myself earlier with this when I gave a 5 star, but when I was about to hit the sumit I noticed that the rating was on 0. Thanks to double checking I caught it and now the person has the rating they deserve.

Replied by Finance Globe on topic I'm hoping to get help

I'm hoping to get help to give reviews you read a "quality score". You are able to do this now.

As soon as we get enough ratings, I will allow people to see the ratings on the main page, and also filter out reviews with low quality scores.

If you have no clue to what I'm referring to:

Thanks! :cheesing:

Replied by Finance Globe on topic Just a heads up -

Just a heads up - I added numbering to the comments made on reviews, and also have added newest on top. After looking at this section, I realized that users would have to first scroll down to the first review and work up. That didn't make sense, so a natural scroll down is now in place. Some font sizes were also increased slightly for better visibility, as well as better compatability with different screen resolutions.

I just wanted to point this out so I wouldn't mess with anyone's rythym! :cheesing:

Just a small update to the reviews:
1. Searching for cards to add a review is now simpler. All card search results are shown in a list, instead of having to browse the cards. See: https://www.financeglobe.com/Finance/reviewcontribute.shtml

2. After a review, or a comment on a review is made, you will have the option to go to the post you just made. Previously, you could only go to the main page.

Replied by Finance Globe on topic Be on the lookout early

Be on the lookout early next week in the reviews. I am nearly finished with an upgrade that will allow registered members to automatically have reviews marked as "read", as well as the ability to mark reviews as "watch" "bookmark"[/quote]Update: I made the changes, but am working on the section that contains a list of your bookmarks.
[/strike]
Update: It is finished, please post issues if any. I really hope that this allows our valued members to help keep track of what has been read, and also to keep tabs on reviews of interest. Thanks!

Replied by Finance Globe on topic After some sweat and tears,

After some sweat and tears, I think that the reviews can now grow without a huge mess. I've been thinking about doing something like this before this Finance Network came along. Nice to have that one off of my shoulders!

Craig and Meya, thank you for your feedback and the push that I needed to get it done! Your input really helped.

This is what changed in the reviews:
1. All users are required to join/login before posting a review or comment. Note that logging in will direct you back to the page you were just on :cheesing:
2. After logging on, you will notice a status area that shows the # of reviews and comments you made, along with the pages that shows them. I haven't decided whether or not to allow a user to change their reviews. I think that the comments addition will allow people to correct or update original reviews.
3. The individual review along with the comments will have linked user names to the Finance Network. This will allow easier communication among members. The majority of reviewers did not register here. I plan on checking on this within the next few months. Also, some of the reviewers did not enter an e-mail address, so it made it nearly impossible to link those reviews to accounts.

Please let me know if anyone experiences problems/bugs.

Thanks!
