There is not a lot to know about credit because you are the spender, not the creditor. Some people take credit for advantage and just give up when the unforsceen happens. Credit is not something that you use for fun, if we can just remember that "We should not purchase anything that can not be paid back within 6 months" strategy, then everything is ok.

What I meant by that Sophie is that let's say I wanted to purchase a washing machine because mines just gave out, I will look around for the best deal and then divide the payments into 6 months (max) to pay it off. luckly I just got a good deal from Sears, I purchased a machine that was originally $800 for $550. I paid if off in 2 months and now I do not have to worry about it anymore. There are some people that will get the merchandise and take up to one year to pay it or do the minimum balance thing. That is where the problem kicks in.

Replied by sophie on topic Even being able to manage

Even being able to manage credit everyone comes across pitfalls on their way to getting there. It is impossible to know and understand everything that has to-do with credit all at once. The system is set for failure, but the more you know the better you can deal wit it.

You have that option to fall into that trap, if you well aware of how to manage credit, then this does not apply to you.

Good credit people are hard to come by, mainly because our economic system is set for us to fail. Credit cards, loans with high interest rates, trick financing, terrible home loan contracts are all ways that companies feed off of society to make a quick buck.

You don't get to choose how you want your reward?

Yes, I chose the Home Depot gift card, I really didnt need anything from the site, so I figured I couldnt go wrong with Home Depot. Some of the rewards where kind of lame. Home Depot I can use for sure in time.

What were some of the other rewards?

It is easy to go beyond your means at holiday time, then you have to take most of the next year to pay it back. Just do what I did, I only bought for whoever bought for me the previous year, seems to be a good system.

I wonder what percentage I fall in? Let me go and check mycreditkeeper.

Whenever you pull your credit report on Transunion or Experian, it tells you your percentage.

As far as I'm concerned, I know a lot of people that have filed BK's at least once in their life. A lot of people will be in debt and be accounted for high utilization this year since they maxed out their credit cards from all of their holiday shopping.

That's an interesting fact. You usually have to beg lenders to give you a CLI while they're sending offer to other people for $100,000. I just can't wait until I get my BofA AMEX card in 3-4 years. I might just apply for the regular basic Blue AMEX so I can build a rep with them so I'll have a better chance at getting approved for the BofA AMEX.

You know, I was reading on MyFico the other day that 50% of americans have credit scores OVER 720 and 75% have scores over 680. I have no idea how that figures into the credit card approval system though.

My Hilton AX is a $20,000 limit, they send offers for 0% blue cards and card offers for others with credit lines pre approved to $100,000. First of all I dont believe they issue cards like that and even if they did, who on earth would need a card like that? unless your in a large size business. I shred the offers. You know how banks are, when you do NOT need the money they want to throw it at you. If you do need money from them good luck to ya. Makes you wonder, no?
