That is so true, and HJM is a good example for it. I don't want any bank to luv me right about now, I can luv myself....lolz. Their luv is starting to hurt!

Normally, I would agree with you Thomas1, but I wouldn't request any increases right now, unless I absolutely needed to. The banks are so iffey right now. You don't know how they're going to react. I'd rather be safe than sorry. A lot of people have asked for increases and ended with their lines decreased or account closed.:scared:

Every 6 months is a good rule of thumb to ask for an increase. Make sure your balance is at zero or very low these days, perhaps 10%. The old rule of utilization of 30% has pretty much gone out the window with this economy. Most banks may increase internally, some with a soft, a few with a hard pull, just depends on their policy.

But, they do look at all the previous payments in relationship to the balances you have carried with them as well, and like to see plenty of cushion available.

Most accounts are not considered new after 12 months of being on record with the issuer.

Depending on the way you handle your credit card spending, many banks will automatically give you a higher credit card limit after a specified period of time. Some review their credit card holders' accounts on an annual or semi-annual basis and, based on the criteria they specify, may increase limits for certain customers.

ahh ok so should I just wait until I am done with ccs before i apply to another card?

Oh yeah, and it is part of your agreement with your CCCS company that you won't apply for new credit while on the program.

Also, when you are on the program your credit cards should be reporting "account managed by a debt management program."

what does that mean?
closed by grantor?
meaning I closed the account?

The creditor is the grantor (credit grantor) closed by grantor means the creditor closed the account on their terms.
you are the consumer.

It depends on the card companies. Some, like Nordstrom, will remove all derogatory information once you have finished CCCS. But it will report closed by grantor.

I should have my consumer credit payment done by June, so do those delinquencies drop off or how does that work? because ccs has been paying them monthly....
my question is if i have these delinquencies that are on there computer when im trying to get a cLi why is my credit score going up every month? shouldn't it be going down...
haha thanks all

Ohhhhhhhhh, duuhhhhhh, you know what, you are absolutely correct and think this is very important to all capital one holders. A few months ago when cap one gave me my last increase, my sister called in and asked for one too. They told her that her account was fairly new and that she had to wait, but what they did do was lowered her APR. Now guess what just happened to her? She called cap1 and they told her that she just got a lower APR, so now she is not entitled to a cli. She had to wait til Jan before she can call in and ask for a cli.

An offer is an offer regardless to what it is. We have an option to ask for a cli, annual waived, or a lower APR. For each one we choose or receive, we have to wait 4-6 months before asking for another one. Why I could not think of this at the time, I could not tell you, but now that you mentioned it, it came back to my memory. So for all of us, make sure that we ask for what we really want and what we think is most important before making that decision.

Good luck on your next try, either way it goes, you did receive some love from them!
