Recon Letter

Leave it alone, that is called the HSBC drama. I will be woman-enough to admit, that I did not read the above post because of the thread being *(sort of) old. If I would have known it was HSBC, I would have told you to be a man and suck it up! Don't worry about your loss, be glad they denied you and wait before you apply again. When you do apply, make sure it is "Tier 1 cards only! "

Hello all this is the continuing story of the Lowe's saga called back today spoke to a rep said that when you are denied that is pretty much it. I asked for a underwriter he said they did not have any one to trans me to did I mention that he was 106 and years old :cheesing: anyway I asked for a supervisor she said that that they could not overide a decsion on an online app and that I could reapply in 30 days but it would be another hard pull. Helppppppp!

Jay1, they are correct about not having to use a recon letter, I have heard of plenty of members who recon'd verbal, and was still denied/approved. I have also heard of people being approved/denied through the recon letter. We have backdoor numbers to creditors where you can speak to acct specialist, but I recommend that you write down all the major questions that you ask before calling. You know it is like speaking to a person who is the "Top Dog" specialist, and they always say that you can give them a call if you have anymore questions. Well make sure you got your story(s) or reasons jotted down in bullets on a piece of paper. You now have to sell your credit reputation. Good luck and keep us posted. If you were approved or denied, please jot down or post exactly what you said, so that it can be beneficial to the next person who tries it.

You can call them ask for the reason of denial. If they tell you what it is, have them reconsider your app.

Should I wait to get the denial letter before I call for the recon? I thought maybe I should so I would know why they denied me.

It's worth a shot since you used the inquiry. I just think we all need to take a break from applying right now, all these creditors are acting strange lately.

That they sure are.....

Thanks for the letter Meya, I am going to add it to my file of letters (for those creditors that won't let you speak to someone else for a recon.....)....

You don't really need a formal letter in order for lenders to re-consider your application. Usually, you can call and ask to speak to a credit analyst or underwriter and you can talk to them directly about what's on your credit report and what you are doing to improve your credit.

I agree, and that way you get a live person who can make a decision instead of just a computer generated model.

Just found this on another site. Seems like a good letter, I guess all you have to do is fill in the gaps. Let us know how it goes

My name
XXXX Tulane Rd N Apt XXX
XXXX XXXX, XX XXXXX-XXXX

March 20, 2008

[
PO Box 85051
Richmond, VA 23285-5051

To Whom It May Concern] credit card, but unfortunately I was denied. This is also my first time in my life I ever got denied for any type of credit, so I was very shock to find out about this decision.

While I was reading “the reason(s) for not approving your request":
Based on the credit report from Equifax for my name, there have been too many recent inquiries

- I pull my credit report on March 14, 2011, right after Capital One denied me, and here what I find; during the last 12 months (1 year) I have total of 6 inquiries, but only 3 its for credit purpose, and consider 2 its for applying a credit card for my business, the last time I applied for credit for personal purpose its on 07/02/xxxx. To me that’s not a lot of inquiries.

Based on the credit report from Experian for my name, revolving account balance(s) are too low
- Could you explain this to me? I though if your balance on your credit card(s) are low, that’s a good thing. Because you would have low credit utilization, which that will improve your credit score.

Based on the credit report from Equifax for my name, new account balance(s) are too low
- I am not clear about what your version of “new account” means? I haven’t open any new credit card account or any other type of credit account for over an year now. But even if this were truth, as I already said above that I thought if your balance on your credit card(s) are low, that’s a good thing. Because you would have low credit utilization, which that will improve your credit score.

Based on the credit report from Trans Union for my name, applicant is not a homeowner
- Again can you explain this to me? You would need a house in order to get a credit card from [
? To me this is ridiculous! And very unfair!

While I was checking my credit report, I also check my credit score on March 14, 2011, and here what I find]. If you need to contact me, you can reach me at XXX-XXX-XXXX or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

What was the reason for denial?

hi hjm331 it was due to a past judgement that was paid in 2003

I just recently got denied a Macy's card (yes Meya, I know I'm in the credit addicts club :embarrassed:) and I wanted to send them a reconsideration letter. I was wondering if anyone here would know where I could find one (I check the forum first but I couldn't find one) or could help me with what I should include in such a letter.

TIA,
BJ
