mrs628's review: Callout Comment I happened to be doing a little online banking with my BOA checking acct and when I logged off, I checked out their credit cards. An online CRS appeared and spoke to me about their credit cards. I explained that I was rebuilding my credit and she began telling me about a secured 99/500 credit card that BOA is currently offering to customers who are rebuilding their credit. She advised to apply for the Visa Platinum Plus card and once I get denied that a counter offer of 99/500 will appear. It did and I applied. I'll give them the $99.00 bucks once my app is received. I hope everything goes thru for me because I kept saying that I need just one major bank to trust me with their "prime" card and allow me demonstrate that I will maintain a positive history with them. Hopefully BOA will afford me this opportunity which will open new doors for me with other cards. I have two credit cards currently, Imagine and Rewards 660. I receive CLI's on both but let's face it, they are no BOA, and if I take care of them I will definitely take care of the BOA card. I read everyone's review on this card and did not find one negative comment. Thanks for reinforcing my decision guys.

Remarks Congrats on your approval. Yes, this card will afford you the opportunity to get you foot in the door with other top issuers once you have established a solid payment history with BOA... Be sure to always be on time, every time, and keep your utilization low. I think in about 9-12 months if you maintain this accout very well, they unsecure it and convert you to the regular Platinum Plus account.

Enjoy your new card and keep us informed of your overall experience with it.

Remarks MRS628 on your new BofA secured card. I have had a fully secured BofA card since June 2008 and I charge and pay in full monthly. I have the Rewards 660 as well but it sure feels good to know that I also have a prime card in my collection.

Good luck to you and again congrats.

Congrats On Approval & RE: Wander User Icon on 2008-10-15

Remarks Way to go on your approval, you are lucky to see the 99/500. Some people here (like myself) was not that lucky. The 99/500 does not necessarily pop up after denials, but it is good to hear that you got it. Have you tried Cap1 or Hooter's? They are pretty good cards to have also. You will have a better experience, and save more money with them better that the other two you named. But always, bofa does stand stronger.

RE: Wanderer, that is when you send bofa $99 and they will issue you a $500 cl on your card.

UPDATE!!! User Icon on 2008-10-27

Remarks Ok I received my card in the mail today and here's the thing. When I accepted the offer online, they had set my acct up and added it to my online banking. This was all before I sent in the 99 dollars. So this past weekend, I sent in the 99 dollars and my acceptance form thinking that I would receive my card in a few weeks. Low and behold monday after work, I checked the mail box and there it was!!! I was excited but then I was a bit confused because I had just sent them the 99 dollars this past weekend. So when I called to activate the card, the machine processed my activation but I wanted a CSR. I told the CSR what I did and he told me that yes this is the partially secured card but they didn't need the 99 dollars right now... And that as long as I have an acct with them if I were to default my payments that they would take the 99 dollars. Then he went on to say that once they receive my 99 dollars that they are going to credit that to my acct giving me a total of 599.00 total credit. My limit would still be 500 but they are going to add the 99 to it... Just in time for the holidays... I never thought I would be able to get a prime lender again but BOA gave me a chance and I will definitely take care of this card. My Rewards 660 will be getting shut down despite my recent CLI. I will keep my Imagine Card because I still love that card. Overall BOA is the f'n man!!!
