kate's review: Callout Comment I have a Wamu Visa. Or, had, I should say. After I had the card for several months, I received an offer to open a savings account with a 5% interest rate and a free checking account. I opened the accounts as the offer was too good to pass up. I had set up several funds transfers from my old bank account to Washington Mutual (the bank, not the credit card). The bank froze my assets as they "could not verify my identity" with my other bank. The weird part is that I had already performed numerous successful funds transfers from my other bank to Wamu before the identity problem came up. My assets were frozen for two weeks without my knowledge. I do all of my bill paying online, and I finally found out my accounts were frozen when my billers started calling me because my accounts were past due. Since my accounts were frozen, none of my payments were processed. Wamu Visa closed my account and is now demanding the entire balance to be paid because of a mistake they made. My credit score has gone down. I've been charged over $500 in late fees. And all because Wamu doesn't have their act together. Now over a month later, my assets are unfrozen, but it doesn't help the fact that I have lost my major credit card (which was through the same bank that froze my assets, so you would think they would understand). Wamu is a TERRIBLE banking experience. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!
