desihunk17's review: Callout Comment I applied for this card couple days a go and they denied me saying I have bad credit... Called to reconsider but still no... So today when I called them to refinance my auto loan they approved me... And also ask me if I wanted to have their card and I said no... You guys denied me so I don't want to apply any more... But the rep said I was approved for 10k limit... Since I have good relationship with them... So I was approved for this card 0% for year... And also world point... Looking forward to it.

Remarks If they approved you for this card, then why are upset with them? Also, even though the rep told you that you have been approved for 10k, there will be no limit being reported every month which will make your card look maxed out even if you have a $1 balance which will hurt your score somehow. The amount of points your FICO score will drop varies and depends on how thick your credit file is including age and available credit.

Confused User Icon on 2008-05-17

Remarks Just for clarity. Do they suck because they denied you twice and then approved you in 1 day or because of inaccurate information? That seems odd that you spoke with the Credit Dept for a credit card and they said no, then you applied for an auto refinance product and they said yes. So, correct me if I'm wrong, 3 credit inquiries and now 2 new open lines of credit? Or is this 1 new credit card with 10K limit plus your refinance loan?

What were your FICO scores during this process? Why did they say they denied you twice before giving you the card on the third try, surely within 3 days, not a whole lot could change. I guess I speculate whether the CSR you first spoke with had it wrong, mabye your application was decisioned incorrectly or something?????

Remarks Don't base a company on a CSR's performance. It's always a hit and miss.

Ok Here Is How This Happend... User Icon on 2008-05-18

Remarks I have auto loan with them since last year which was around $40000... And itz been around 8months now and I have paid off more then half of the loan... And I was kind of paying high interest rate... So I thought I would refinance with them... Soo I visit their web site and applied for their credit card... Thought I would get approved since I been good customer with them... But they denied me... So I called the credit department after talking to them for hour and telling them that I have good paying job... But they still said no... And next day I applied for the loan I got approved... Day after that a csr called me to get my new loan papers and other stuff ready while I was on the phone finishing my loan papers... Csr told me that I was preapproved for their visa card... Up to 10k limit... And I said ok... But I was sure they will denied me... Few minutes later... She said I was approved for 10k... And just to verify I called like 5times to check status on the application and they said yes I was approved for this card for 10k... So basically 3 inquiries... In 2days... And good results... I guess... But I think I am going to convert this card... To American Express... Because this card has no spending limit... And my score were around 650 with all three..

Remarks The reason why you got denied the first time was because of their automated scoring system. The computer denied you by looking at your credit report, developing a score with their own scoring system, and compared it to their requirements.

Now, when they presented you with the preapproval, that was a manual review where an actual person has looked at your report and thought you would have a good chance at being approved for this card. So, do NOT blame the company for having something set-up to do its job.

Remarks You've gotta admint that BoA gave him very mixed signals (sorta reminds me of a girlfriend I has a few years ago lol). They should update their system to generate a manual review of their current customers that would otherwise get automatically denied.

Personally, I can't stand BoA... And my girlfriend has pulled all of her money from the institution as well. I once had a problem with their automated phone payment system. I made a huge payment - like 2500 and their payment system processed it 2 or 3 times. Of course the payment bounced. The thing is, I paid with my Bank of America checking account - the same company! The automated payment system kept on redepositing the $2500 on a daily basis, and bounced it like 8 times - even after my paycheck got direct deposited and there were funds to clear it! I had to stop payment on a check with no # (as it was an EFT payment), and pay $250 worth of fees. The kicker is, I gave the teller a cashier's check to cover it, and she told me it would take 5 business days to clear.

I pulled all my money out of the bank at that point and closed all accounts.

The banking was a lot more problematic then the credit card, but the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth with BoA. This was also during that whole time that they were converting from MBNA, so maybe that had something to do with it!

Good Results Desihunk17!!! User Icon on 2008-05-18

Remarks Okay, I get it now. Thats a good result and that is absolutely correct with what HJM331 stated about the online automated approval system. Most of the times, the systematic reviews are a little harsh with some banks and not so harsh with others. I'm glad you got the result you wanted. Rockin35!

No That S Wrong User Icon on 2008-05-18

Remarks No after gettting denied... Online I called the credit department they said that they cant approve me now because I have judgment on my credit file which is like 2years old and it was paid... But then same bank approv me... With same credit report... Isnt that like joke? I mean how do they expect people not to get mad at them..

Customer Service User Icon on 2008-05-18

Remarks Getting approved for a 10K Visa card and refinanced on an auto loan seems like a good deal to me. I understand the customer service may indicate signs of "Incompetence" but sometimes this is due to all of the internal red tape/and mismanagement that causes confusion. Rockin35

U Know What User Icon on 2008-05-18

Remarks You were blessed to get a $10k limit with them at all with a judgment. Regardless if it is paid or not, majority of banks will say NO when they see it. I agree with HJM331 and Rockin35 comments and Wildrage, I also agree with you. We all know that Bofa is the capitol of ripping off customers, that is why they are constantly in court. I just bank with them because I have been doing so since I was 18 yrs old. Sorry hJM331 and Eric, but you know it is the facts, but I am not holding anything against your favorite bank... Lmao!

Whatever! Freakin Rip-offs! lol.

Remarks With your own bank it may be free to pay them online for free. Who do you currently bank with for your checking?

Remarks I have tow cards and I had them waive the pay by phone fee for me. They said sure we can do that! They are really nice at BOA to me. Just ask for a supervisor if a regular rep will not do it for you.

Online Bill Payment User Icon on 2008-06-12

Remarks I have a BOA Visa (not a Signature Card), and I pay online using my regular (non-BOA) checking account. Go to the BOA website and enroll in Online Banking. Have your routing number and account number ready. The process should only take a few minutes, and they will credit your account pretty quickly. Good luck.

Remarks Theo is right... Go to Bank of America.com or www.Myeasypayment.com to make your payment.

Also like Tynece said ask nicely for a waive on the pay by phone fee.

Re: THEY SUCKKK User Icon on 2009-12-06

Remarks IMHO: Bank of America Visa Signature is the worst card to get. They have the worst customer service experience. They're will not help and are remotely friendly when they ding you with fees. Just me ranting... For you folks to find out the hard way.

They do suck. I think you should be glad you didn't get them. It's a blessing in disguise.
