eric's review: Callout Comment I have a Household bank Mastercard with HSBC since Aug of 2002... I started the card with a $300 CL... Ive never been late with this card... And I was finally given a $200 CLI in 2006... I haven't gotten another CLI since... So in regards to Rockin35... HSBC is horribe with CLI's... I also have a Orchardbank Mastercard since 2005 with a $500 CL... Im going to to call HSBC about a CLI on BOTH cards... This is ridiculous.

Also I have the Direct Rewards Discover with a $1k limit.

I've Decided To XCL HSBC User Icon on 2008-04-20

Remarks Yeah,

Their limits are just to minimal and they really don't help my credit report if I'm not showing any increased credit lines. It's not so much that I need it, but I need the added points on my credit file. HSBC/ BestBuy Master cards limits are just to small. I thought about converting to the regular store card, but I really wont be using their card anyway... Thanks for your input!!! Rockin35!

Remarks I will be closing my Best Buy Mastercard soon if they don't give me a CLI! I've been heavily using the card and paying it in full and still no CLI...

Remarks They might ask you how much you make when you call for that increase... They asked me when I got my CLI this month. Next month will be my 1st year w/Orchard. It was just $100. I took it.

Two months ago I was declined because my debt ratio was too low (per orchard bank) so I got it up from 11% to 43% and got my increase. Good luck., and ask to speak with someone that could really help you at HSBC.

Remarks I have had my card with HSBC for several years with no CLI. Last week I called and talked to a guy you couuld hardly understand.

It looks like HSBC isn't just giving CLI anymore, you have to call and ask. Why do they do that? So they can give you a CLI of $100.00 and charge you $30.00 for it.

HSBC is becoming one of those cards that charges you a fee for everything.

Not A Good Card..... User Icon on 2008-04-22

Remarks This card is only good for rebuilding credit. They gave me $750.00 to start with and I don't know why I took the card. They have additional fees everymonth. I closed the card and now paying them off. Also their finance chrgs are high too. Shouldnt be for a starter card with fees.

Remarks I PIF my Orchardbank MC (because I don't even use my Householdbank MC) every month and my APR is 27.99% and I have a $59 AF which is ridiculous... I really need to close these clowns.

Remarks I've had an Orchard Bank Platinum Mastercard since 2006, started with $300 credit limit and now have a limit of $1,950 (received $200 limit increase last week). Applied for the Household Bank 2% Cash Back card and was instantly approved for $2,000 credit limit. Haven't checked credit score within last 30 days, however I opened 4 new credit card accounts end of April and was approved for 2 more today. Credit score will no doubt take a small hit but it's temporary, the trade off in the long run will be worth it.

Pay your bills on time every time, try not to carry a balance and you'll be rewarded.
