mikey's review: Callout Comment I FINALLY did it!! I canceled this loveless card from that wretched bank. I have had this secured card for 2 1/2 years and to be honest it has really helped rebuild my credit. I have finally inched my scores from the low 500's to the high 600's-low 700 mark and still no love! I felt guilty closing it at first because of how much it has helped me but I mean even Amex has shown me love! So I called today after debating it for months and closed it. I have never been late ever and usually pif (it had 1000 secured line and I would charge a lot like 600-800 and pif every month) once in a while I would leave like 30-40 bucks on it to carry over to give them some interest too and still nothing. Thanks for the help orchard but this card is now mulch!

Remarks You could have called the back door number & asked about a credit limit increase.

Orchard Cli's? User Icon on 2008-03-29

Remarks They give CLI's? I ask because I still have a $500 CL and my account has been open since 2004... I got one CLI last year... Never late always pay in full... Still not much love from them... I might cancel them. I already cut up my card a month ago.

Remarks Way to go! Did your scores take a hard hit from a 2 1/2 year history with them? Don't feel bad Eric, you will not miss anything from them. Vingstar, their backdoor number is a front door to fee's for the cli. The only way you don't pay is when they give it to you.

Backdoor Cli User Icon on 2008-03-29

Remarks You cant get a cli for a secured card untill its "graduated" to unsecured. the ironic part is that I have 2 other HSBC cards unsecured. plus a cap one boa, barclays and amex. So they can keep it. so far not a big drop in score trans went form 680 to 672 ill live

Remarks That is not a bad hit at all. I had Orchard for over 4 1/2 years, I know mines is going to hit hard but I could care less especially if I am lucky enough to receive teir 1 cards.

Remarks Mikey,

I feel your pain. I was wounded by Orchard today :(

Had the card for almost a year and a half. Secured with $1000, twice declined for CLI's unless I deposit more $, nah, don't think so. I too have another HBC unsecured card. I'm not understanding their rationale but it's too late to worry about it now, they're history. Hooray for us!
