rbuctodd's review: Callout Comment Ok, so I had no business applying anyways. My credit is so slim that I don't even score (have 2 baddies $2500 judgment from 7 years ago and a med bill from a couple years ago and that's all). I got the "7-10 day mail response" message. Sure enough it came in the mail declined. Guess I just couldn't resist handing a clerk a cheezy "hooters" card to watch them look at me funny. I just got a rewards 660 and a first premier last month (my first credit of any kind) and I know I need to wait awhile to build some positive reporting credit. I think I applied to about 6 cards last and they were the only ones to approve me (I paid all fees right away to get them out of the way). Guess I'll just wait about 6-8 months and try again.

Get An Approval? User Icon on 2008-03-24

Remarks I got the written delcine in the mail. That's ok I went to my credit union this morning did a $1500 secured loan. My situation sucks, I have a nice savings but I am a "ghost" in the credit world so I am trying to build quickly since I have no trouble with the finacial abilty to make any payments and don't need credit to buy things just as a tool to establish a record, it's a stupid game that I am forced to play because I messed up and lived within my means!! LOL

Remarks Ther are many other cards to look for in your situation. Try:

1. Orchard

2. Cap 1

3. Direct rewards Discover card

4. Travelocity Mastercard

5. Credit One

These are pretty good cards for those who are trying to come up in the credit world. Go to the network (which should be over to your lright) and read the postings under "credit stories for poor to fair credit." You will find some interesting posts over there.

Remarks OK, the Tribute card has some high fees. Mine where $150 and had a $200 credit limit. Total $350. Had it for ten months now $600 limit.

**there is a monthly maintenance fee

**You don't have to ask to an increase just pay on time and no over the limts

**No CLI increase fees.

I heard that the annual fee is get waived or lower when you have it a year... I'll let ya know when my year comes up!

Try Department Stores User Icon on 2008-04-03

Remarks Another suggestion on building credit is to apply around the holidays when creditors lower the criteria. I used to work for FDS (Federated Department Stores-Macys) and it never failed that most of the approvals came around the holidays. Also, try for smaller department store cards like "The Buckle" or "The Gap" and build your credit for a year and I'm sure you will begin to get more approvals for the major cards.
