brent91055's review: Callout Comment I applied for this card through the discover website and was declined. Two days later I received a call from HSBC offering me their Direct Rewards co branded Discover Card with a 1K credit limit and $39.00 Annual Fee. My only problem so far is that when I called customer service to add an authorized user to the account, the CSR barely spoke english.

Remarks Welcome to credit via an alternative path. HSBC Discover is now Capital One as of May 1, 2012. You got the door open and as you know and can build credit with this card.

Remarks Congratulations. It just sucks that you weren't able to get a real Discover card because, Discover has much better customer service.

Remarks First Niagra Financial Group from Buffalo, NY purchased HSBC USA Banking operations. HSBC was keeping its premier credit cards but I have seen nothing on mortgages. Since it is HSBC's goal to discontinue their USA Banking market, I would assume they would sell their mortgages.

Remarks @Creditcardaddict, I noticed this on Capital One's webpage. It answers a lot of questions about the Capital One, HSBC aquisition. http://www.capitalone.com/creditcards/lp/welcome-faq/
10.Will this purchase affect my other HSBC accounts, such as my car loan or savings account?
No. If you have other types of HSBC accounts, they will not be affected as a result of this acquisition.
