Remarks Congrats would be in order. It seems from others on the FG site this card starts people between a CL of $150 and $225. Truth, store cards like Target (CL $200 is pretty common here) for instance, are shy in the beginning. Also, I suggest not loading up on store cards taking hard inquiries if a person can go after Visas and Mastercards (secured or unsecured and bank or credit union) which will give larger limits and are more universally useable. Capital One purchased Citi's retail cards. This is NOT correct as it was GEMB who purchased Citi Holdings retail cards in October 2010. Capital One took over servicing of Kohl's Department Store retail cards on April 1, 2011.

Remarks Congrats on your approval. As Wanderer stated, watch these store card apps. And GEMB is notorious for offering a co-branded version of the store cards, so word of advice: if they offer you the Visa AE card in the future know that it won't be a true upgrade; they will close this trade out (as transferred) and open a new one for the Visa (with a new open date). GEMB is also really stingy with their credit lines on the Visa/MasterCard/Discover/Amex's-almost to the point that you wonder why they offer co-branded cars to begin with.

Wanderer: Capital One bought Citibanks retail portfolio? I thought GEMB bought them (gas cards, Macys etc). And I thought Capital One bought only the Kohl's portfolio... If Capital One bought Citi's then maybe I will hold on to my Macy's, but otherwise, I want nothing to do with GEMB.

Remarks ColoNative - seems I may have confused myself. Stick with the knowledge from before. Citi under the umbrella of Citi Holdings sold their retail cards to GE Money Bank in October 2010 NOT Capital One. Capital One will service Kohl's Department Store retail cards as you stated (previously serviced by Chase)! My error.
