I applied in 2 weeks for ( AMEX gold today 4/4/11) kays ($4700), bloomingdales ($800), victoria secret($350), best buy ($750), capital one($500), childrens place ($500) they all got approved. I also applied for gap, nordstrom and they didn't approve me. I have a lot of inquiries tu 13, ex 20, eq 20. I went to AMEX web site and did the pre selected offer they picked the AMEX gold in 60 sec I was approved. I brought a house and a car 7 months ago the same week. my score went down but its going up nicely. I pay everything on time.

these are vantage scores I have an account with true credit wherei check my scores once a month for $15 and its a soft inquiry.

I can't believe I got approved either! I have always wanted an American Express and have been denied in the past. I got a letter in the mail today saying "you have been selected". I threw it away because I knew that in the past I have been denied of my credit score being to low for their standards. I applied over the website today and got approved!! I feel so accomplished.

That is awesome. I feel the same way I cant believe it I think the recession has a helped a bit. There scores before needed to be in the mid 700 at least. I received mine today. It feels great to have it in my wallet.
