mattzzg's review: Callout Comment I have above average credit, scores in 700-720 range, little debt. BOA approved me for $5000. I don't like BOA but they have competitive products. You can't make payments online unless you have a BOA deposit account.

Remarks Congratulations! Great CL. As to making credit card payments, I use my own non-BOA bank. I never let BOA set me up with one of their checking accounts. Other FG posters have stated that once they established a checking account relationship with Bank of America they were unable to use a non-BOA Bank accounts. Truth, I don't know.

Re: BofA User Icon on 2011-01-24

Remarks Congrats on your new account.

I have to say, personally speaking of course, that BofA has been the most honest and consistant bank (besides Capital One). I don't want to jinx it, but my BofA Visa Gold (upgraded to Signature 9/10) has been at 9.9% fixed APR since I opened it in May 2001. They gave generous, automatic CLI's and they always offer easy balance transfers. I did have an issue with them 1/2009 when I applied for a 2nd BofA. They gave me the 9th degree (very personal questions) before finally approving the account (after taking $5K from my Visa Gold's $20K limit to fund the new account).

I believe the have stopped the on-the-spot reviews of accounts when cardholders call in for basic customer service issues, but that is not to say I don't have a healthy fear of them.

PS I have a BofA MyAcess MyExpressions checking account and I am still able to pay my two BofA Visa's with my local bank checking account online through BofA's website.

Remarks I don't like BOA I have never been able to get a card with them with a FICO around 700 and if they do give cards out you only get 3k-5k limits I would recommand going with a credit union. I have a 74k in credit cards with local credit unions 2 which carry for 14k and 15k lines. The others are around 8k. I have a balance for all of them at 1,100 dollars I rarly carry a balance on any of my cards. But if you want to get the big limits go with a credit union if you have a 680 or higher also they have great rights mine are at 8.9 % any credit score of 680 most likly will get that

Re: Not True User Icon on 2011-03-15

Remarks @Pauly2221 that is not true. I have a credit limit from a credit union and they started me at $3k(which is $6k now after a year). I opened a BofA cc account on 03.11.11 and they approved me for $10k instantly at 0% for the entire first year. I have no complaints with BofA. Credit scores are 730

Remarks I got approved for this card and it has saved me. I had a personal loan of $7,000 with a interest rate of 29.99% and my payments were $240 a month. I did a balance transfer to pay off this personal loan and get the payments down to $89 minimum payment. Thank you cash rewards Visa! I have had to call in to customer care a few times to ask some general questions and the customer service agents have been very helpful and nice.

Remarks Quen12*******

There are other factors involved with a credit union. If you have a short credit history or if you highest credit limit or trade line is only 3k at the time then they will only give you a 1k or 2k above that previous limit. Also if your utilization is high. I do know for me at least my credit score was 620 with a utilization of 80%. I paid off every thing and have 5 credit cards limits below

hooters 1.5k
orchard bank $600
best buy $600
total card $500
military star $1500

all paid off and I put 52k a year for income my score was 718 and I applied for the following credit cards

Chase card 3K Approved 22.9%
Discover 1.5K Approved 22.9%
BOA Denied
USAA Bank Denied

Now for the Credit unions all in the same month

Navy FCU 14K Approved 12.9%
Navy FCU 2nd CC 15K Approved 12.9%
APG Credit Union 6,000 Approved 11.9%
(Increased to 10,300 after only 3 months)

This happend all in the same week so i noticed that with 0% utiliazion a credit score around 718 and an income around 52K with a 1.5 year avg credit history. Credit Unions gave more and better rates not counting intro 0 % because my navy had that for 12 months.

Quen12 your utilization was probly 20% or higher and/or your current credit limits where around or lower then that new credit union credit card of 3k. Or the Credit Union you were dealing with was limited in money resources. I know some credit unions only allow 10K max on certian cards. Navy FCU goes up to 100K on 1 card. and they are the biggest Credit union in the country. You have to get with a credit union that has credit cards max limits 25K or more.

My credit cards adding them all up was 10K before applying for the credit union ones. I was very surprised that navy gave me almost 30K off the bat.

Now my score is a 730 Credit utilization is at 5% and my credit limits is almost 100K available.
