jayman's review: Callout Comment Been banking with USAA since 2004 when I joined the Army. Applied for there Classic Platinum Master card back in 05 was approved with a CL 0f 500 when I was still young, they eventually upgraded me to there total rewards MasterCard CL 1500. And that's when my credit troubles began in 05, I did what most irresponsible young army adults do. I had a blast with it. When I was 22 reality set in and I started to repair my credit only after the bank killed my cards. I was down to the low 500s on all three credit reports in late 08. So in June 09 applied for First Premier Centennial got a CL of 400, then I applied for Orchard bank Platinum got a CL of 300. This year got a Capitol One Platinum Cash Back card with 500 CL. I figured I'd give USAA a shot and see if they trusted me yet my scores are as of 07/17/2010 634 TU/629 EF/EX 634 (TU and EF came from myFICO.com). Well they didn't trust me with this particular card can't blame them, but after I got the instant decline it said I was approved for the USAA Classic Platinum Master Card at 500 CL. The same card and CL they gave me back in 05 so at least they've smiled on me somewhat. If I remember correctly last time I had this card it only took six months to get my first Credit increase and program upgrade back in 05. My hope is that if I use this card right history will repeat its self (without the bad this time) and maybe in six months I can at least get back to their World Platinum Master Card, and maybe in a year or two finally get my hands on this one. PS. I do all banking, investments, and insurance with them. If you meet the criteria to get in, then you should have been in like yesteryear.

Remarks Also back in 08 when I began to clean up and rebuild I pretty much locked my credit report down, called all the companies that were inquiring asked them to stop. American Eagle was on there like 3 times in 18 months and I only applied for the card once. But right now I have less than 6 Inquires for the last 2 years, and all of my collections were paid in full in 08 while I was in Iraq 4 accounts were in collections status all together. My oldest and worst one should be ready to come off by next year so I'm happy about that. Should I kill the First Premier card I just hit one year this month it is my longest good standing credit card as of right now. Just curious. Also I paid off one car loan never missed a payment and haven't missed a payment on my second car loan I've had that one for 11 months now. Both car loans equaled about 22000 dollars.

Remarks I'd keep all your cards so you can have a higher available credit radio. Keep your balances under 10% of the available credit and your scores will continue to raise. And I lol'd about them giving you the same exact card with the same credit limit. Thanks man, good review. ^_^

Remarks Congrats! You faced the tiger... Grow your good credit history (scores) and after your USAA Card shows good reporting you could think about loosing the Premier Card. Glad to see Cap One came through too. Your on a good path. Great review!
