What to Look for in a Gas Credit Card

What to Look for in a Gas Credit Card

With so many gas credit cards to choose from, there’s a good chance that you’ll find one that suits your every requirement.

Of course, you don’t want to apply for the first offer you find. Instead, you want to compare your options to ensure that you’re making the right decision.

Above all else, your gas credit card should save you money at the pump. For example, you could receive 5 cents back on every gallon of gas you purchase. This may not sound like a lot, but it can really add up over the course of a year.

Note: make sure you are familiar with any restrictions. Some gas credit cards only provide cash back if you shop at a particular station.

From there, a few other things to consider include:

•    Online access. Are you able to access your account online, such as to review your balance, cash back, and make a payment?
•    Security. It’s always nice to carry a credit card with $0 liability. In today’s day and age, protection from unauthorized purchases is a must.
•    Competitive interest rate. Just because you’re using a gas credit card doesn’t mean you’ll pay the balance in full at the end of each cycle.

Just the same as any other type of credit card, there are many details to consider as you compare your options and attempt to decide on your next move.

If you follow this advice, you should be able to find and apply for the gas credit card that provides the most benefits to somebody in your position.

Have you carried this type of card in the past? Do you have any advice to add?

For a gas credit card, you should at least get a 3% cash back reward. Some are higher, but I would not get a gas credit card unless you received the 3% at a minimum.
