5 Things you should always Buy with your Credit Card

As a credit card holder, you are faced with a variety of decisions on a daily basis. Most importantly, you will be asking yourself this question often: should I use my credit card or pay in cash?

While some people use their plastic for everything, others are much more selective. It would be in your best interest to know when you should and should not be using your credit card, ensuring that you don’t make any mistakes that could drag down your financial situation.

Here are five things you should always buy with your credit card:

1. Travel accommodations. Along with the fact that you may be spending a lot of money, there are many other reasons to use your credit card for this purchase. Above all else, your card may provide secondary travel insurance coverage. Along with this, you may have access to a concierge service through your provider.

2. Electronics and appliances. Did you know that some credit cards provide cardholders with an extended warranty on electronics and appliances? If you are interested in this (as you should be), contact your company to discuss the details. You may be surprised at just how much you can receive in return for simply using your card to make the purchase.

3. All online purchases. It is always a good idea to use a credit card when shopping online since it is typically safer than a debit card. In short, there are more levels of protection in place, especially if you find that you were a victim of some type of fraud.

4. When making a purchase overseas. Are you the type of person who enjoys traveling outside the country? If so, you should realize the benefits associated with using a credit card. Some credit cards are exempt from foreign transaction fees, which can save you as much as three percent on every purchase. This is not the case with every credit card, but it is with many. Check with your company before traveling out of the country.

5. Recurring bills. From your cell phone to your cable bill among others, if you are faced with recurring monthly bills you should consider putting your credit card on file. This will ensure that you always pay your balance in full and never miss a deadline. On top of this, you can earn reward points along the way.

The next time you find yourself faced with one of the five purchases above, consider pulling out your credit card to finalize the transaction.
