charonh's review: Callout Comment Greetings everyone, I applied for this card in December 07 and was approved with a credit line of $6000 ($5500 owed). Since that time, I have not received a credit line increase, which is pretty out of the norm for Citibank. I also have the regular home depot card with a credit line of $3500, and its close to its limit, because I let my mom make some remodeling purchases; a Citi flex line of credit $9500 that I owe approximately $6900 on; and a closed cash returns MasterCard with a credit line of 5k and owe approximately $1100. Yes I know that I am close to my limits and my utilization does not look good right about now, but I have a good reason and will have them paid down by the beginning of next year. My question is do you guys think Citi is being cautious with me because of my high utilization or is it something else. I've been a Citi customer for 3 years now and they usually give me what I want. I always pay more than the minimum and do not have any 30 day lates (maybe one day or two, but well before my new statements close). Does anyone else have this card??????? My current score is 652 EQ, it was 686 when I applied for this card.

Remarks Hi, I don't have that particular card but I will say this. Right now banks are being cautious with everyone especially those with high utilization and inquires. If you pay down the balances like you plan to I'm sure you will be fine and they will show you some love. Good luck.

Remarks Citi is probably noticing the high utilization, if anything. They aren't as lenient as usual due to market conditions. I'm surprised they haven't credit line decreased you yet. Let's hope not. But, they are watching spending habits, especially large purchases, and high balances. Anything that makes them nervous it seems could trigger some sort of action on their part. I would just try to pay them down as best as you can.

Citi Decreasing My Limit!!!!!!!!!!! User Icon on 2008-10-22

Remarks Right now they haven't and if they were to do so it would wreak havoc in my camp. Let's hope they do not. Its funny, because if an issuer gives me a credit line with a limit, I don't see why I should not be able to utilize it without having to worry that they will decrease it as long as I abide by the rules (pay on time, not go over the limit, etc.). Oh well, I guess they are just protecting themselves, which I totally understand. It still sucks though!!!

Remarks Majority of creditors are holding back on cli's. There is no need for any of us to worry about it being a difference in between sub primed or prime cards, they are both doing the same thing. Don't worry, you will get one, but I think I would begin lowering the until before asking. You are correct about not worrying about the balance if you have a plan to pay it down. It happens and that is what the card is for, to use it.
