I opened my discover card in 1994. They have excellent customer service. I lost my job in 2001, and lost everything. My car repo'd, house foreclosed, and my credit cards charged off. Discover tried working with me for as long as they could, but I couldn't even afford a good faith payment. Out of the $80,000 of credit card debt that charged off on me... Discover card, and HSBC was the only 2 creditors that sued me for the balance. Bank of America, Citibank, Citibank/sears, MBNA, Juniper, First USA, and Providian didn't sue me. They all went to collections.
