    Another bank losing customer data again - this time is HSBC losing a computer disc containing names, date of birth and insurance cover levels of 370,000 people who hold assurance policies at the bank.

    How can our data be safe with the so-call custodians?

    This is not good. All this money we pay in their fees you would think they would have better security measures. This makes no sense.

    This probably happened from the way they report to the Credit Bureaus every month. They send all the info on discs and I guess someone was able to get a hold of them.

    I wonder who the next bank is going to be a victim of this.

    Actually, this might be a trick that they have up their sleeves. They might be trying to scare their customers and push them into signing up with their MyCreditKeeper service which is their credit report monitoring product. You never know, it could be true.

    I think this is just one of their excuses for sharing our identity or robbing us themselves!

    Hopefully only the insurance customers are affected and not credit card holders. Anyway just be careful and vigilant over the next few months if you hold any financial product with HSBC. That is all we can do, ppor us!

    it does not matter that which type of customers are affected.The thing is that the bank is not paying heed to customers security.I have heard a lot of bad experiences with hsbc.Its really very bad.

    You should read the reviews, everyone has good, and not too good things to say about them.

    I look at HSBC as a self serve/build your credit card. The card itself is not too bad but once you add their CS, it sucks. I think that HSBC is a lot better than FPB and all of those other sub prime cards who try to hustle you for a credit card.

    Every time you call their customer service, they end the call pushing CreditKeeper. They don't take no for an answer.

    Wow..I wonder if that info also contained info of banking customers..I had someone try to do an EFT with my checking account info, luckily I get alerts so it was caught but I never use the account except at the ATM- I use it for socking funds away. Any how, they took forever to get it straightened out( fraud department). Who ever the scam artist were kept hanging up when I called the number the fraud specialist gave me. The also hung up on them as well. Now I had to have fraud alerts put on my CR's....I'm glad I saw this post. They never once said they lost any info to me, and it took them almost 2 months to resolve this...let's not forget I couldnt touch my money in all this time..
