Thread: Backdoor Numbers

Hello everyone. I want to build a long list of all the backdoor numbers we can find it. A backdoor number is a telephone number which directs you to senior account managers who have more authority and are a lot more helpful than regular CS reps because they have more power and more authorization in their hands. If you find a good backdoor number, please post it here. Just put the name of the lender and the backdoor number next to it. Thanks
Also here's a good link to a lot of backdoor numbers. Although, I don't know how old these numbers are so don't blame me if a number you call turns out to be disconnected. Lenders change their backdoor numbers a lot so let's see if we can keep up.

Thanks so much for introducing me to the "back door number option". I had never heard of such a thing. How do I get these numbers for the cards that I do have? And is there anything in particular I should say when requesting the CLI?
Thanks for all of your help!

Ok well upon more research-I have answered my own question.
I went to ficoforums.com and found the info below. Not sure of the accuracy of the #'s but I will be using them. Also, a defintion for any others who may need it as I did.
P.S. a few are on here twice because they came from different sources.
Capital One: 1-877-513-9959 OR 1-800-889-9939
Juniper: 1-302-622-8990
Orchard Bank: 1-888-385-8916
Orchard: 800-395-6090
HSBC(M.C.)888-385-8916
Hooters: 801-545-6705
WaMU CSR: 800-356-0011, or 800-280-9441
BoA: 800-732-9194 (dept. unknown)
V.S.: 800-695-9458
Best Buy: 888-237-8289 (customer care)
Best Buy: 800-365-0292(CSR)
HSBC: 800-694-9222 (cust. service)
HSBC: 831-755-6699 (executive customer service)
J.C.Penny:866-239-4362 (credit services)
Cap1: 800-951-6951 (cust. relations)
Cap1: 800-427-9458 (Fraud department. They take ALL calls seriously!)
Cap1: 800-258-9319 (Debt Recovery)
Citi: 800-950-5114 (Account Specialist)
Citi: 888-201-4523 (Approval Status)
Backdoor number = a phone number connecting directly to someone with the authority to grant the CLI request, bypassing the frontline customer service agents who answer the phones at the main customer service number. Often a backdoor number is a direct line to the CC company's retention department, whose job it is to offer incentives to convince customers not to cancel their cards.
Hope this helps!!!

Is that for sure a back door # for Penneys? Because I was pissy that they wouldn't increase my credit because I didn't use the card within the first 30 or 90 days, whatever it was. My cl is still at the paltry $200 that they automatically issue for everyone who applies on the internet. :(

Good info OP! The only way to find out if these numbers work or not is to actually try them ourselves!

Juniper did not work for me, but let's wait to see what someone else has to say.

That is what we were telling you about. Maybe your 6 month statement has to close. This is what Macy's told me when I called a couple of weeks ago. When I called back last week (after my statement closed) that is when I got the $400 cli.

I called that # for Penneys... a guy with a very thick Indian accent answered. He referred to the regular JCPenney number... he didn't tell me who he represented, but I believe it's GEMB... and as a fluke I called the # on my card and they FINALLY increased by credit from my measly $200 to $1000!!! WAHOO!!!
BTW, kudos to the OP for providing the #s. It wasn't the accurate one in my case, but it motivated me to call and ask about my cli.

The rule of thumb is the number on the back of your cards are
the "Script Readers" and the back door numbers are your finance
or accounting folks that have been working there for awhile.
Orchard 800-695# is a go, sometimes you'll get a supervisor
and yes they do give CLI and will either do a soft or a hard pull.
Arod got one a few months back, I cant remember how much
though.
So far there is no back door number to juniper. This is the
number listed on their website at juniper.com and depending
on your account (Barclay's) they do not accept customer
initiated request. They will tell you the computer does it
automatically.
Hooters, "They have issues..."
Yes it is a back door number to their credit
department and depending on who you talk to they will
try to transfer you to customer service as quickly as possible.

HJM, when should someone use a backdoor number? Are they mainly for when you get denied for a CLI and when you are denied a CC?

Hey RC, I use this backdoor number for everything. I hate talking to the outsourced reps because I can never understand them and they rarely help me out. The backdoor number is the way to go if you want to get stuff done fast!

That's good information to have. So we should only use these number to get the cli?? Or you can use that number for any issue, it just gets you to an authority figure.
