yep... they started me off with 300 and i got 300 cli each year since I've had the card and my apr is pretty good but when you carry a high balance like i once did , my required payment went as high as 95.00. i received the card from a pre- approved offer with the same rate and it has not changed but hey i just pay my bills on time and try to keep my balances low and hope for the best.by the way they offer an apr of 11.99 plus prime rate right now. oops sorry for the misspelling

Nice limits you got there. Once the difference between the two Macy's cards if I may ask?

Macy's offers 3 kinds of store card. Red, Platinum and Elite. Red is basic, to get Platinum one has to spend $1000 annually and Elite is for spending or $1500 or $2000, do not remember exact amount.

So you have two Macy's card? Why don't you just upgrade the regular Red card to Platinum?

As the matter of fact I have 4 Macy's accounts.
    1. My store card which is Platinum now CL is $3300
    2. DW's store card, which is joint now CL is $4900
    3. Tabletop account CL is $2500
    4. Gold Macy's Visa, joint account CL is $5000.

It could also be that one or more was another stores card. For instance, in California someone might have had a Robinsons-May card and a Macy's, well when Robinsons-May merged with Macy's the card would have been changed to Macy's as well.

IMHO Macy's gives out too many card types. I have never really gotten over the fact that when I wanted just the retail card I got a Visa. And if you use the Visa at Macy's it goes to a separate retail account! That makes no sense to me. So I had to go through the hoops to get the Visa closed and removed from my bureau-which they did but it took some effort on my part.

Sorry, that was my rant for the day.

I know, it seems weird that the Red card has a higher limit then the Platinum.

I don't believe you can simply upgrade an account with a phone call though. To get the Macys Platinum you have to spend $1000 per year-and to add insult to injury you have to maintain that to keep the Platinum-it has an expiration date. I have a Gold Macy's that expires in 3/09 and I am still $136 ($500 per year) shy from keeping it for another year.

I could be wrong but that has been my experience.

May I ask if you requested the credit limit increases with Macy's? I was approved off the bat with a $2,000 limit on the retail and $10,000 with the Visa. The Visa is long gone but it has been 14 months and I am still at $2,000 on the retail, seems that most peeps here have reported an automatic credit line increase with Macy's...I wonder what gives.

As the matter of fact it does not really matter. There is the same CL and APR on all levels. Being on Platinum level gives 12 free services such as small alternations, gift wrap etc. I did not use it so far.
