I just received a $700 CLI on my Best Buy store card. It matches the limit on my Macy's card. I will try to raise my Macy's limit to $3k during the holidays to lower my utilization.

Thanks everyone! Applied for a JcPenney's store card last week and received my denial letter yesterday. Tried opening an account with them since I shop at JcPenney's at least once a month. They have quality products at affordable prices, that's what I like about them. I was hoping that I would get approved for the card and lower my utilization because it's at approx. 40-50%. My scores are hurting but I am going to freeze my reports to prevent me from applying for more cards and came up with a plan to pay off my debt in a timely manner.

Congrats! That's a nice bump for you. Should we all start giving you our Christmas list now?

Hey bro, at least you know why you were denied and let's keep it real. high util and too many new accounts + inq in one year. You know JcPenny's will show you some love especially with the credit you have. You are so correct about the quality clothing. I just went there last week and purchased my nephew some more school uniform pants (IZOD) and some POLO shirts. I had to order the pants because they were none in the store. I got 4 pair @$82 with free ship & hand and the shirts were $9.99 a piece. Not to mention the new skull South Poles they had there. The jackets were $29.99 (normally $60) and the pants were $34 (normally $55-$65). I thought their Goldtoe socks were pretty expensive or should I say not a good quality of Goldtoe so I went to Macy's and got ripped off for $21 for 6 pairs when Jcpenny's had them for $12 for 6 pairs. My husband loves goldtoe but I will be trying out Jcpenny's next time....lol

Don't give up bro, and I don't believe you have to freeze your accounts to stop you from applying for cards. You grew strong since you have been here and I know the feeling of the "The Luv" button when it starts to itch our fingers again. Just chill for a minute and let's bring our util down to 0 instead of 40-50%. I just got a few (big ones) down to 0 but the little ones count worse. I bet next time you apply for JcPenny's, they are going to give you some real love, better than what I currently have with cli's involved.

Meya, sounds like you got a heck of a deal on the clothing for the little ones. I'm not worried at all, right now I'm trying to get some CLI's by keeping my credit clean and paying down my debt while waiting for my inquiries to fall off. Once I'm at where I want to be, I will go into the store and apply for a card at the time of purchase. Thanks for the encouragement, it means a lot.

MsKiwi, I might have to take a rain check on that one.

MEYA!MEYA!MEYA! OMG! I COULD CRY!! I just got approved for my MACY's card! I just got off the phone with them and they only needed to verify address info! They gave me a $600 limit! I can't believe I was approved since they turned me down flat, cold, like an abusive boyfriend back in April. Thank you so much Meya, I wouldn't have reapplied without your advice and the stuff I read on this site.

And like the credit junkie I have turned into: I applied for HSN the same day and got a charge card with them too, instant approval!

I must be doing something right...
