It is good to request increases. The more avaliable credit you have avaliable the better. And FYI Capital one will never give you an increase. I have had a card with them for 5 years now and they wont give me one. When all of my other lenders give me an increase about every 6 months.

WOWZORS!!! I decided to ask for an increase on my credit union Classic Visa and they approved me for an additional $2k! That makes this my highest limit at $3k. This required a hardpull to my credit report but was well worth it. I had actually been holding off on applying for a limit increase because I knew the hardpull was required.

So I was upgraded from the Classic Visa to the Platinum Rewards Card in this process.

Well I checked My Sam's Club Credit account online. While I was there I decided to hit the CLI button. I was totally blown away! They increased it by $4,300 to $10,000 CL. I only opened the account early last year. It started at $1,400 in only three CLI's later now $10,000. I guess GEMB likes heavy use and PIF every month.
It's suprising for GEMB considering I've got other accounts with them but nothing more than $3500 CL. There seems to be no rhyme or reason sometimes with what these banks do!

I've never cared much for the clear cards. At one point Chase re-issued my MasterCard with this hideous clear, gray card with icons on the sides like an airplane, hands shaking and a dollar sign. I can't find a picture of it...this was in 2003 I suppose. Anyway, I called them and told them that I wouldnt be using it again until they redesigned it LOL. I have always hoped that Amex would have redesigned the Blue cards, afterall, they were introduced 12 years ago when iMacs were available in colors and the New Beetle was new. My point I guess is that what was "hip" and edgy 12 years ago is not so much now. I will gladly take a clear card over a verticle card anyday though!
The US banks and credit unions need to really impress us with chip + PIN technology instead.
Anyway, didn't mean to rain on your parade LOL. I just wonder what got into them to want to issue clear cards.....

It has been a while since i have had any credit limit increases so i called all of my cards and asked for increases.

JCB: gave me an increase from $1000 to $1200
    First Interstate: no increase yet
Capital one: No increase. Not suprised on that one
    Wal-Mart: Increase from $1000 to $1100
Penney's: No increase, but just got a $1500 increase from them a few months ago
    Kohls: No increase
    Paypal/Ebay mastercard: increase from $400 to $525

I have too many store cards and i am going to wait it out a year for accounts to age and inquaries to fall off and then try to get a better non-store card. I just applied for a Discover card and was denied because of too many new accounts/inquaries even though they pulled equifax which has no baddies on it at all.

I am seeing how inportant age of accounts is. opening a lot of new accounts will really sink your ship. (And your credit scores)

I disagree, all my credit scores are in the high 700 800 range and i recently opened 2 new accounts and had a bunch of trade lines raised or upgraded. I think it depends on the kind of credit you have and the limits and balances you carry!

I called my credit union today to request and increase from $9,000 to $16,000. It was approved. I also called bank of america to ask for an increase from $7,000 to $10,000... denied. :( Oh Well you win some you lose some.

Congratulations! Great CL Increase. As to Bank of America, ever since they set up FIA Card Services... they seem to be hit and miss on what they will do. Likely they pulled a hard pull.
