Re: Report Your "Credit limit Increases" Here!
It might be based on how you spend. I dunno about the west coast, but there are a good number of Macys stores in my area, including the famous one in NYC (Herald Square). I tend to spend at minimum $1000-$1500 yearly with them. I have $1100 to go before I gets me my black card (Elite). I'm at Platinum now. I tend to get clothes and shoes (Rockports...so classy yet so comfortable) because they have excellent sales.
They are pretty much between Walmart/Target (ok, ok, Target is definitely higher than Walmart, but when talking about Macys, I will lump them together) and Bloomingdales/Saks/Nieman Marcus/ etc. I have NO problem being a loyal Macys customer. They are the only business I burned from back in the day that gave me a second chance. (Plus they are my oldest account).

Re: Report Your "Credit limit Increases" Here!
What are you limits and scores? The only time Macys gave me $100 was when I opened back up with them in 11/2007.
You might need to do what I did in the beginning. Buy a lot of stuff (always within your limit) and PIF immediately. You'll be amazed at how much love they will show. The Visa, of course is a different animal. That's Citi, and they got their own reindeer games going on.

Re: Report Your "Credit limit Increases" Here!
My limit just got bumped up to 500 but ive only been back with them for like a year (i think they pull from experian which i know is a 612). I burned them in 2003 so it took like 3 years for them to let me in their good graces...
here's the kicker, i spend prolly about 150-250 per month on that card and pay it off every month.... i wonder why they are being hesitant....prolly cause they saw my past history and are just playing it safe... either way, i will take what i can get and keep proving them wrong....

CG, I spend like crazy with them. I even went from the Red card to Silver platinum, never seen the Gold card....lol. Maybe its because they remember me from years ago....lol

Re: Report Your "Credit limit Increases" Here!
I burned Macys too. What had saved me was I had went ahead and paid them at Herald Square after the burn (I went through a period of "guilt" and paid a whole bunch of things I didn't need to pay...just wanted to make myself feel good. This was before I knew about credit repair. I would then burn other folks but that was because of 9/11 and lack of funds and a good mismanagement of money). It wouldn't be until years later that I decided to try Macys again, but instead of them giving me my old Gold card I had to start at Red. I was aggressively using Macys (I needed clothes) and PIFed. Enter today, and with the 90 day CLI, I got almost $3000...from $100 I had started with. Trust me, if you can, just keep buying stuff...you will get better love. (They want you to anyway, so that they can post better numbers on their quarterlies...LOL).
ColoNative, do you know what kind of Macys card you got (i.e. Red, Gold, etc)? How often do you spend with them? What may also not automatic is the level of Macys card you have (don't quote me....but in my experience, if I knew how much I spent, I always had to ask to bump a level, from Red, to Gold, to Platinum). Depending on your level of card (and Brian, this might apply to you as well), the love tends to be much better as well. That's partly why I can't wait to see Elite. :-)
Definitely call them with the phone number on the back of your card. I got 1-866-593-2549. (The phone numbers tend to be different on the cards. Red was different from Gold). Call right now and get your CLI!

Mycreditkeeper lists mines, but Macy's is not going to show you anything but a balance on your statement online or through mail.

Guys, be careful. There is post on another forum (poste says that he is Macy's employee), which says that Macy's has changed policy and started CLD.

Re: Report Your "Credit limit Increases" Here!
The only balance Macys ever reported was when I bought my Perry Ellis belt. I tend to PIF before they "bill". APR on a Macys account is no joke. But yeah the pullers do report your balance. I might have to switch mine because they went the TC route. Only monthly as of the first of June for CIP.

Yes, every 3 months.
I may have to start doing that. I have been a cardholder for 21 months now and never an auto CLI.
