Default My Equifax Fico is up by 16pts

I purchased all 3 of my Ficos last week 07/25 and they were:

    TU 653 EQ 646 and Ex 607
    They were all up from
TU 634 EQ 646 up from 632 prev week, EX597

Today, I got a Scorewatch alert that my EQ Fico had jumped 16pts. I'm very happy as one of my short term credit goals twas to get TU and EQ to 650 by the end of Aug/2008 and EXP to 625. I've accomplished 2 of my goals now just EXP

All of this was accomplished due to what occurred in June 08
    1. I paid down my cards by $1400
    2. I went on a CLI attack with soft pulls only thanks to what I learned over at creditboards dot com and was rewarded with over $5400 CLI- special shout out to Lowe's for giving me a $3450 CLI and Macy's for $400 and $700 for both my Macy's cards
    3. I sent off alot of CMRRR disputes which resulted in 2 major collections being deleted from 1 of the CBs and 1 paid, charge off acct being deleted across the board as well.
    4. I also applied and got Kay/Jared cards at just under $2k and Walmart/Discover just south of $2k which really took me for a surprise.

My end of Oct goal is to get EQ and TU to 675 and EX to 650
and to snag the JCPenny/GEMB card which denied me at the beginning of June. They pull EQ and that is my highest scores with no baddies except S/Ls.

p.s. I'm finally able to post again. I had trouble as I had forgotten my passowrd, tried to generate a new one, which I got several but I couldn't get a working link to log in for nearly a week. I finally figured out that I had to clear my cookies and browsing history after which it accepted my system generated password. Thanks Mike for your assistance.

Default Equifax Fico up 9pts! Now at 671 Yay!!

07/25, when I pulled my Ficos, Equifax was 662 9and teh week before they were 642 and the month before, they were 632) , today, they are up +9 to 671. I have been working very hard to get my report cleaned up. My goal was 650 for TU and EQ by the end of Aug- done! It was 675 by the end of Oct, I've very close.

I sent off several CMRR disputes to Ex and TU two weeks ago so I'm hoping some things changed. EQ is my cleanest report, I just had bad S/Ks reporting and 1 paid st loan that I disputed and I believe that eq took off as I couldn't see it on Truecredit yesterday. Hopefully,t his is the reason for my score increase.

I openned up Kay and Jareds but only Kay is reporting. Should I call Jared's to inquire why they aren't reporting yet. I got my Kay card but I only got a letter from Jared saying that the card is on the way. Perhaps, I should charge a small purchase like an earring at jareds to make it appear. That limit +$1500 will do wonders for my utility.

Score Watch alert/Changes to your FICOŽ Score

Your FICOŽ score has gone up to 671 on August 6, 2008.

BTW, I'm working on DH report. He has prety decent Ficos, however, I send out a few CMRR disputes and got Eq to delete a paid CO. His eq was 688 after that and last night, i got a noctice from Equifax 3-1 monitoring that his score was not 697. Soon he will be knocking on the 700 club's door. TU also deleted one of the settled credit card accounts as did EQ and EX based on my disputes 3wks ago. They kept the other one on.

I sent off request to remove addresses and it looks like Eq and TU complied but not EX . My next step is to get the cc settlement of my CO that they and eX refused to remove.

Target score alert: Your FICOŽ score has exceeded your target score of 662.

    Hey all,
Which is better? Do it yourself credit repair, or going with a company (like Lexington)? Anyone have any experience with them or another reputable company? I was referred to a "local" company by a mortgage broker. The local company charges $495 up front, but they claim to get your scores up to 720 or better. The money up front part sounded a little suspect to me. Any suggestions? Thanks, all.

Theo, where have you been hiding out?

Good question, FG author, Mary Tomkins started an article about this. I have a nice link so that you can read about and you can also send her an email for more questions. She responds promptly and have great resources and I am pretty sure you will save some money. Here is the link to:

I don't know about paying anyone Theo. I thought about that to when I started my credit repair journey but through a lot of reading I saved a lot of money and got my credit reports cleared up and having things removed that should have no longer be there. But that is just my 2 cents

Theo if you still want to go that right please don't allow me to deter you. I just wanted to just put it out there that I believe you can do it with out paying extra money to do it.

I don't know. It just don't sound right. What if it's one of those companies that give you a tradeline of credit to boost your score temporary? At $495..? You might have 4 bills at $495...Why not write a letter to the creditor and ask if they could the collection item off your report (in writing before you pay). Or ask if they could change the reporting to (Paid in full/on time status). Lexington? I'm not sure..read their site a hundred time though. Good luck..remember old times does not effect your score much...3 to 4 years ..but will still show on your report. Ask that mortgage broker what is he talking about LOL!

Hi theo11, at the suggestion of a coworker she suggested I try Lexington (she actually had tried them). So I did and their service was horrible. They disputed items that were legitimate and sent in these poorly worded letters to the CB's (one of the letter was actually returned to me!!). Also beware of any company that tells you that they can "fix" your credit because they can't.

Like Yoyo11 said keep your money and get copies of all of your reports and look for any mistakes and you can write letters yourself (I think I've seen some examples on this site).

You are smart Gal! if everybody starts following this then we wont be needing any credit card consolidation, or any other thing. this is the only way by which we can keep the credit card companies on track and take the most advantage of them. though it is a negative thing but i enjoyed yourpost completely

I just want to thank everyone on this board / website / forum...whatever you want to call it. I know I've been purchasing my Fico scores...(see club). Got another coupon today...that's were they get me!!! In Jan/08 my True Transunion Fico score was 502.. I'm sure you guys remembered how I cried when I saw this...well now as of 8/21/08 its.....643!!! I could not believe it!! My Experian is 644 and Equifax 607. The major jump is because my credit/debt ratio is getting better. Not as good as I want to be but considered good to FICO. I'm so happy...my new CapOne card did not show up yet but the inquiry did post. I'm made a promise to myself not to purchase any more Fico's until my birthday...in Dec. My goal is 660 i'll keep ya all posted!!
