Dispute that actually worked
I wasnt sure where to put this but I thought I would share. Tthey said i had a 1699 $ bill
because what was happening is when they went from cingular to att,. I mean att to cingular. they kept charging me for long distance. I would call every month cuz they would charge me long distance, and then the dude was like well just change account #s then when i did 3 months later i got a huge bill. Yeah so i was like i owe u guys maybe 200-300$, so the guy was like lets make it 300 and call it even. then when i did that i kept getting collection calls, so I told the representatives Calling me that I shouldn't have to pay for it there mess up... This is the 3rd year I've disputed this charge and it finally showed up PAID IN FULL 0$ balance, So maybe my credit score will finally go up.. justice is served!Anyone else have any success with disputes?Last edited by Meya; March 25th, 2009 at 06:00 PM.

Re: Dispute that actually worked
Yep, but it's always good to dispute everything!!! Yes, I mean EVERYTHING negative that shows up on your credit report. Remember, that the credit reporting agencies have to get back with you in 30-45 days after they complete their investigation. Therefore, if they do not have enough time, or the creditor does not send requested information in time, the items might get deleted from your file.
This works approximately 25% of the time.....so it's worth of trying

Re: Dispute that actually worked
the best time to dispute anything on your credit report is on Black Friday(the day after thanks giving) or November or December of the year because the big 3 are sooo swamped with calls and investigations, the cus ser reps, managers, investigators have a quota to meet each month and they are trying thier best to just clear they case load and sometimes they dont even read the whole complaint/dispute they just go by keywords and plus this helps the economy in a big way really becase once you get that out the way you can apply for more credit meaning more money for the crteditor and more money for the retailers as far as they profit margin during the holidays

anytime is great, make sure though you CMRR them, and make the letter personal, not from the internet. In addition if they have done anything that breaks FACT or FCRA rules tell them if not corrected then you will be more than happy to see them in court and get free $100. Its the law
